How to enjoy

Choose how to enjoy your visit

Eat, shop, play, take in the view or rest. Choose from the station’s strengths to suit your day.

First, when you arrive
Decide whether to eat or visit the park first

At lunchtime, head to Jakoya first. If children are tired of the car, a little time moving around in neighboring Fusazaki Park can make the rest of the visit easier.

If you are hungry
Build a fish meal at Jakoya

Choose a marinated hamachi (yellowtail) rice bowl, sashimi, fried fish, and small side dishes. The stated closing times are 14:00 on weekdays and 15:00 on weekends and public holidays.

If you want something to take home
Genpei Yasai-ichi and local products

Find vegetables and fruit from local farmers, bread, mochi rice cakes, flowers, and souvenirs from Kagawa and elsewhere in Shikoku. Payment methods vary by section, so carrying cash is sensible.

If you are traveling with children
Include Fusazaki Park in your break

There are lawns, play equipment, climbing structures, a display Kotoden train car, and sea views. It is a good place to move around while waiting to eat or before getting back on the road.

On a hot day
Cool off at the Farm Produce Cafe

Soft serve ice cream and seasonal drinks make it an easy stop when you do not have time for a full meal.

If you have half a day
Visit Yashima or the Stone Folk Museum

Choose Yashima for history and views, or the Stone Folk Museum for Mure's stoneworking heritage. Either pairs well with a meal at the roadside station.

Highlights

Genpei no Sato Mure is a roadside station on National Route 11 worth more than a quick meal. Choose a marinated hamachi (yellowtail) rice bowl and fish dishes at the self-service seafood restaurant Jakoya, browse local vegetables and Kagawa souvenirs at Genpei Yasai-ichi, then look toward Shodoshima Island from neighboring Fusazaki Park. With parking, 24-hour toilets, and the Shinnendo rest area, it works for a short break or a half-day trip extending to Yashima and Mure's stoneworking heritage.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

A fish lunch comes with a sea view

At self-service Jakoya, you can build a meal to suit your appetite from rice bowls, sashimi, fried fish, simmered fish, and small side dishes. After eating, walk to Fusazaki Park for views of the Seto Inland Sea and Shodoshima Island. It is a lunch stop where you can also stretch your legs outdoors.

02

Mure's character comes through in Genpei history, stone, and food

Near the old Yashima battlefield of the Genpei War, you can visit Yashima, the Stone Folk Museum, and places connected with Aji stone, a locally quarried stone. Beyond eating and shopping, a short stop offers a sense of the neighboring Mure and Aji districts.

03

Parking, toilets, and a rest area make a straightforward stop

Parking for 65 regular vehicles and 13 large vehicles, 24-hour toilets, an information station, and the Shinnendo rest area make this a useful break on National Route 11. Jakoya's hours are fairly short, so plan around lunchtime if a meal is your main reason for visiting.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

At lunchtime while driving between central Takamatsu and Shido

Turn a lunch break on National Route 11 into a fish meal

At Jakoya, the fun is adding small side dishes and fish dishes rather than stopping at one rice bowl. Even a short break can have a taste of the Seto Inland Sea; companions who want something lighter can head to the produce section or cafe.

Parking → Jakoya → Genpei Yasai-ichi → 24-hour toilets.

The restaurant mainly opens for lunch. If you arrive late, the selection may be smaller.

Families with preschool and elementary-school children

With children, plan separately for food and park time

Adjacent Fusazaki Park has lawns, play equipment, climbing structures, and a display Kotoden train car. Children can play before eating or take a seaside walk afterward. An outdoor break can be easier than sitting inside for a long time.

Fusazaki Park → Jakoya / Farm Produce Cafe → local products section.

Summer sun and reflected heat can be strong. Keep outdoor time short and use the cafe or rest area too.

History fans and adults on a half-day drive

Continue to Yashima for the history behind the Genpei name

To follow the Genpei history in the station's name, head for Yashima's hilltop Yashimaru center and the old Genpei War battlefield. After lunch and shopping at the roadside station, the views and historic sites give the place names more meaning.

Genpei no Sato Mure → Yashimaru on Yashima hilltop → Genpei War battlefield.

Allow walking time from the Yashima hilltop parking lot. Keep the visit shorter in heat or rain.

Rainy days or a quiet outing for adults

Explore Mure's stoneworking heritage

Mure and Aji are known for stoneworking. Add Takamatsu City Stone Folk Museum to see a side of the area beyond seafood and fresh produce. It also makes an indoor alternative when the park is too hot or rainy.

Genpei no Sato Mure → Takamatsu City Stone Folk Museum.

The museum is closed on Mondays; aim to enter the exhibition rooms by 16:30.

A short break on a long drive

For a short stop or a trip with a dog, a little seaside walk may be enough

Even without a meal, parking, toilets, local products, and views from Fusazaki Park make for a worthwhile pause. Enjoy the sea, pick up a drink or souvenir, and return to the road without packing in too much.

24-hour toilets → local products section → Fusazaki Park viewpoint.

Events or construction can change how the park or parking areas are used.

Jakoya is self-service, so it helps if adults can divide tasks.

Ages 2–3
★★★★☆

Fusazaki Park's lawn and play equipment can help children unwind after a car ride.

It is by the sea; watch the wind and sun, and leave room to shorten outdoor time.

Ages 4–6
★★★★★

Play equipment, climbing structures, and the display train car are easy to enjoy. Add playtime before or after eating.

Separating mealtime from playtime may be more comfortable than lingering in the restaurant.

Elementary-school children

The display Kotoden train car, sea views, Yashima, and the Stone Folk Museum can make an educational stop.

If continuing to Yashima, plan for walking distance and heat.

24-hour toilets and a multipurpose toilet are available. Toilet information is also provided for Fusazaki Park.

Rest

Ideas for a restful stop

  1. 1
Choose a comfortable parking spot first

There are 65 regular-vehicle spaces. Traffic increases around the restaurant's busiest time, so choose an easy walking route rather than forcing a space by the entrance.

  2. 2
Locate the toilets and rest area

There are 24-hour toilets, a multipurpose toilet, an information station, and Shinnendo. Finding them before eating makes it easier for companions to get around.

  3. 3
Eat early in the lunch period

Jakoya's lunch hours are short. If you came for fish, arriving soon after opening or in the first half of lunch may give you more choices.

  4. 4
Even a brief look at the park is worthwhile

Fusazaki Park offers pleasant views of the sea and Shodoshima Island. On hot days, avoid a long walk and choose a bench or shade.

Local products and farm produce sections

Seafood Restaurant Jakoya

Seasonal fish, oysters, and olive hamachi change the menu with supplies and the season. Check notices if you have a particular dish in mind.

Fusazaki Park

The broad lawn and sea views are attractions, but group use or construction may change access conditions. Check parking notices too.

Surrounding Yashima area

Combine Yashimaru or Yashima tourism events with a lunch stop here for a half-day route.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

Do not rely entirely on Jakoya for a late lunch

Marinated hamachi (yellowtail) rice bowls and fish dishes are popular, but Jakoya has short hours and is self-service with cash payment. If lunch runs late or it is busy, the Farm Produce Cafe or local products section can provide a lighter alternative.

Fusazaki Park helps children recharge

Beside the station, it has lawns, play equipment, climbing structures, a display Kotoden train car, and sea views. A walk after lunch may suffice, but families may want to allow a little more park time.

Farm produce mixes everyday shopping with souvenirs

Alongside vegetables and fruit from local farmers are bread, mochi rice cakes, flowers, and souvenirs from Kagawa and Shikoku. The selection works for local shopping as well as travel gifts.

The pleasure of the coast depends on the weather

On a clear day, the view toward Shodoshima Island is a highlight. Summer sun, sea winds, and rain change the experience outdoors, so consider a cafe or indoor rest too.

Extend the trip to Yashima and the stoneworking area

The station's Genpei name, Mure's stoneworking heritage, and Seto Inland Sea fish all come together nearby. Add Yashimaru or the Stone Folk Museum after your meal to get a stronger sense of the place.

Before your visit

Things to check before setting out

Opening and closure days, individual businesses and facilities for children or dogs can affect your plans.

  • Jakoya's stated closing times are 14:00 on weekdays and 15:00 on weekends and public holidays. For a meal, aim for earlier in the lunch period.
  • Jakoya indicates cash payment. The local products and produce sections list cash and credit cards, so carrying cash may make the visit easier.
  • Official pages show different parking counts. As a guide, the main facilities page lists 13 spaces for large vehicles and 65 for regular vehicles; allow extra time when it is busy.
  • Fusazaki Park adjoins the station, but notices may say its parking lot is closed on the first and third Wednesdays or other days.
  • The park and coast are pleasant in summer, but the sun can be strong. Combine a short walk with the cafe or rest area.
  • If continuing to Yashima or the Stone Folk Museum, check each site's closing days and parking first to keep the half-day route on track.

What would you like to eat?

A meal, a sweet treat, market shopping or something to take away: choose a focus for the day instead of trying everything at once.

Eat a full meal

Marinated hamachi (yellowtail) rice bowl / sashimi / fried fish

The main choice for a lunch built around Seto Inland Sea fish. Add small side dishes to a rice bowl to make the meal lighter or more filling.

Jakoya mainly opens at lunchtime and takes cash. Allow extra time for seating and payment on busy days.

Look for seasonal dishes

Olive hamachi / fried oysters / kaki-tama rice bowl

Notices may feature olive hamachi, a Kagawa yellowtail specialty, or oyster dishes in autumn and winter. Check official announcements before setting out for a seasonal item.

Availability and end dates depend on the catch and supplies.

Buy something to take home

Local vegetables / fruit / bread / mochi rice cakes / Kagawa and Shikoku souvenirs

Genpei Yasai-ichi and the local products section serve both everyday shoppers and souvenir hunters. Even a vegetable run can be reason enough to stop.

On some days, the selection of farm produce may be better in the morning.

Take a sweet break

Premium soft serve / Genpei parfait / matcha drink

Useful when you miss restaurant hours or want a brief break on a hot day. A cold treat also goes well after a walk in the park.

The Farm Produce Cafe's stated hours are 10:00–16:00.

Catch a limited-time item

Seasonal items such as Sakaide Kintoki sweet potato karinto and chips

Official notices sometimes feature limited products made with Kagawa ingredients. These sweet potato snacks are worth looking for while you are there, as sales end when stock runs out.

For limited-quantity products, release dates and stock can change quickly; check the latest official notice.
