How to enjoy

Choose how to enjoy your visit

Eat, shop, play, take in the view or rest. Choose from the station’s strengths to suit your day.

First look
Strawberry products in the local-products hall

Fresh strawberry dorayaki, jam, and seasonal strawberry daifuku show why the station is named for strawberries.

To eat
Udon at Rakuraku-an

Arrive before the lunch rush. Strawberry curry udon is a distinctive dish to try here.

To shop
JA Yoshimi Farm Produce Market

Yoshimi strawberries and local vegetables vary with season and deliveries, so morning is a safer bet.

With children
Wanpaku Playground

The bouncy dome, climbing structure, and roller slide turn a break into playtime.

To explore beyond the station
Yoshimi Hundred Caves or Hatcho Lake

The nearby options make it easy to choose history if rain threatens or a waterside walk on a fine day.

For a short stop
24-hour restrooms and one quick purchase

The first and second parking areas together hold about 397 passenger cars, making even a restroom stop easy to plan.

Naomi's detour notes

Plan shopping, eating, and play separately to make this station easier to use.

Ichigo no Sato Yoshimi works best when you decide what to do on arrival instead of treating it only as a strawberry stop: visit the farm market in the morning, eat before the lunch rush, and keep children's outdoor play short according to heat and crowds. With ample parking and 24-hour restrooms, it is also a good place to plan your next stop at the Yoshimi Hundred Caves or Hatcho Lake.

Highlights

Michi-no-Eki Ichigo no Sato Yoshimi brings together a local-products hall centered on Yoshimi strawberries, the JA Yoshimi farm produce market, udon at Rakuraku-an, and the Wanpaku playground. In strawberry daifuku season, fresh strawberry dorayaki and other sweets make shopping especially tempting; on fine days, children can play on the bouncy dome and roller slide. Editor Naomi Takase recommends planning your parking, restroom, meal, and play stops here before continuing to the Yoshimi Hundred Caves or Hatcho Lake. A michi-no-eki is a roadside station for travelers.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

Strawberry shopping gives this station its namesake purpose

The local-products shop sells fresh strawberry dorayaki, handmade strawberry jam, winter-to-spring strawberry daifuku, Ichigo no Shizuku cider, and other goods made with Yoshimi-grown strawberries. Dorayaki is a filled pancake sweet, while daifuku is a soft rice cake with filling. Even outside the fresh-fruit season, the processed products offer a taste of Yoshimi to take home.

02

Lunch at Rakuraku-an, or a quick stop at the shop and bakery

Rakuraku-an centers its udon on noodles made with 100% Saitama-grown wheat. Choices include mori udon (chilled noodles served separately from dipping broth), vegetable tempura, curry udon, strawberry curry udon, and seasonal cold and hot udon. If the restaurant has a line, the shop or the bakery inside the rest area is another option.

03

A roadside station where children can play outdoors

The Wanpaku Playground and lawn area have a strawberry-castle-themed climbing structure, play equipment for young children, a bouncy dome, and a roller slide descending from Momi Hill. The stop offers children a chance to move around during a drive, beyond the shopping.

04

Easy to extend the trip to the Yoshimi Hundred Caves, Hatcho Lake, or strawberry picking

Head from the station to a strawberry farm in town; outside the picking season or on a rainy day, visit the Yoshimi Hundred Caves; on a fine day, try Hatcho Lake or Yoshimi Kannon. Yoshimi Town lets you mix eating, shopping, play, and walking.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

Families with toddlers through elementary-school children

Buy strawberries, then reset with playground time

Look at the strawberry products in the local-products hall first, then check the restaurant crowd before heading to the Wanpaku Playground. Outdoor play gives children something to do while the family waits for lunch or shopping.

Park → local-products hall → Rakuraku-an or bakery → Wanpaku Playground → farm produce market.

Weather, construction, and events can change access to the bouncy dome and lawn. On hot days, plan for shade and water first.

A half-day drive from winter to spring

Follow seasonal Yoshimi strawberries to a farm

Check the strawberry daifuku and market offerings at the station before visiting a strawberry-picking farm in town. Yoshimi Town lists farms in its 2025–26 outing map; varieties and prices differ by farm.

Roadside station → strawberry farm in town → farm produce market for take-home purchases.

Strawberry-picking closures and prices depend on growing conditions. Some farms require reservations, so check the farm's latest information just before your visit.

Local sightseeing that adults can enjoy too

Yoshimi Hundred Caves on a rainy day, Hatcho Lake on a fine day

If the weather may turn, focus on history at the Yoshimi Hundred Caves and the Buried Cultural Properties Center. On a comfortable walking day, circle Hatcho Lake. Eating and using the restroom at the station first makes the next stop easier to manage.

Roadside station → Yoshimi Hundred Caves or Hatcho Lake → Yoshimi Kannon.

Hatcho Lake is an outdoor walk; the Yoshimi Hundred Caves have visiting hours and an admission fee. Plan footwear and time accordingly.

A break while traveling on Prefectural Route 27

If you have only 30 minutes, choose one goal

If time is short, focus on one of the restrooms, the farm produce market, or a strawberry sweet. The second parking area makes finding a space easier, though the shops and restaurant can draw crowds on holidays.

Park → 24-hour restrooms → local-products hall or farm produce market → depart.

Popular produce and strawberry products tend to sell early, so keep your afternoon choices flexible.

A short family outing

Pair a plaza event with shopping

On days when the circular plaza, local-products hall, and Rakuraku-an join events such as the Roadside Station Festa or summer festival, there is more reason to linger. Allow extra time for parking and meals compared with an ordinary day.

Check official announcements → park early → event → meal or shopping.

One-day event details can change, so check the official announcement for the day before setting out.

Visiting with children

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Age 1 and under
★★★☆☆

Good for a short use of the nursing room, rest area, and 24-hour restrooms.

Focus on resting and shopping rather than the play equipment. In summer, a shorter stay in the outdoor plaza may be easier.

Ages 2–3
★★★★☆

Easy to combine toddler play equipment with a short shopping stop.

Children can move around in the Wanpaku Playground, but judge the bouncy dome by crowding and the ages of other users.

Ages 4–6
★★★★★

The climbing structure, bouncy dome, and roller slide may be especially appealing.

Outdoor play can fit before or after a wait for food, making this a practical age for a roadside-station stop.

Elementary-school children
★★★★☆

Add the Yoshimi Hundred Caves or Hatcho Lake to the play equipment for a full day.

Choose the Yoshimi Hundred Caves for a child interested in history, or Hatcho Lake for an outdoor walk. Extending the visit beyond the station may be more satisfying.

Restrooms

The rest-area restrooms are open 24 hours. There are also restrooms in the local-products hall and JA market.

Nursing room

In the rest area and information corner. Approximate hours are 9:30–17:00.

Outdoor play

Wanpaku Playground, the lawn area, a bouncy dome, and a roller slide are available.

Food

Rakuraku-an serves lunch. Switch to the shop or bakery when it is crowded.

Event

Make an event part of your visit

Permanent spaces and dated events are listed separately. Events can change both the atmosphere and crowds; use the official links for details.

Checking event dates.

Spaces used for events

Circular plaza and lawn area

Summer festivals, the Roadside Station Festa, and hands-on activities add reasons to linger here. On ordinary days, the space also works well for children's outdoor play.

Official announcements

Check these before visiting for the start and end of strawberry daifuku sales, limited restaurant dishes, station stamp updates, and lawn construction.

JA Yoshimi market events

Events such as the Dai-Yoshimi Festival and early-summer festival at the farm produce market affect crowds and the range of goods on sale.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

Morning market shopping and strawberry goods tend to draw the most interest

Visitor accounts suggest that morning shoppers gather at the farm market and strawberry displays, while popular produce and seasonal goods can sell quickly. If shopping is your main goal, look at the stalls before lunch.

Allow extra time for parking and meals on event days

Plaza events such as the summer festival or Roadside Station Festa add to the visit, but can also change the crowding at the parking areas, restaurant, and shop. If you are stopping briefly, allow more time than on an ordinary day.

Before your visit

Things to check before setting out

Opening and closure days, individual businesses and facilities for children or dogs can affect your plans.

  • For strawberries or other produce, visit in the morning to leave yourself more choice.
  • Rakuraku-an mainly serves lunch. Arrive before the rush if you plan to eat there; switch to the shop or bakery if it is crowded.
  • The first parking area accommodates large vehicles; the second is for passenger cars. Drivers of large vehicles should use the first area.
  • The rest-area restrooms are open 24 hours. Check the nursing room's hours before relying on it.

  • For strawberry picking, each farm's reservation rules, prices, and growing conditions take precedence.
  • The Yoshimi Hundred Caves, Hatcho Lake, and Yoshimi Kannon are about a 10-minute drive away. Eat and use the restroom at the station before continuing.

Food mood

What would you like to eat?

A meal, a sweet treat, market shopping or something to take away: choose a focus for the day instead of trying everything at once.

Buy what's in season

Yoshimi strawberries / local vegetables

The farm produce market offers more choice in the morning. Fresh-fruit selection changes with the season and deliveries.

Station specialties and sweets

Fresh strawberry dorayaki / strawberry daifuku / strawberry jam

Choose something to eat in the car and something to open at home; even a brief stop can leave you with a treat for later.

Lunch

Rakuraku-an udon / vegetable tempura / strawberry curry udon

Restaurant hours are approximately 11:00–14:00 on weekdays and 11:00–15:00 on weekends and public holidays. Arriving before the rush helps keep your itinerary on track.

Options when it's crowded

Home Bakery Kitaoka / light snacks at the shop / takeaway

Leave room to switch from the restaurant to bread or shop snacks, especially with children.

Outside strawberry season

Cider / jam / strawberry kamaboko fish cake

Even when fresh strawberries are out of season, you can take home a taste of Yoshimi. Kamaboko is a seasoned fish cake.
