Traveling toward Yoichi, Kutchan, or Kiroro
Make it a 10-minute National Route 393 break
Park, use the toilets, and pick up a drink before leaving. The main building has provisionally reopened, so you can also browse the shop if your timing allows; a quick stop still works when you have further to drive.
Park → toilets → check road conditions → depart
Toilet availability may change with conditions, so check current notices if you need a longer stay.
Roadside-station stamp collectors and leisurely drives
Pair a roadside-station stamp with a hot-spring break
The Akaigawa stamp has returned from its temporary location at Akaigawa Caldera Onsen to the provisionally reopened main building. Stamp there during building hours, then continue to the onsen for a bath if you want a longer village stop.
Roadside station stamp and toilets → Akaigawa Caldera Onsen → bath and break → depart
You cannot stamp on days when the main building is closed. Check onsen closures separately, including Mondays and the day after a holiday.
Days when you want lunch, sweets, and shopping
Explore Akaigawa food around the village
The main building again offers meals and gelato during its listed hours. For more choices, try an Akaigawa Burger at Muranoakari Restaurant, soft-serve ice cream at Yamanaka Farm, or berry sweets at Alice Farm.
Roadside station → Muranoakari Restaurant or Yamanaka Farm → Alice Farm
Each place has different operating days, seasons, and seating; check before relying on one stop.
Family drives with preschool and elementary-school children
Give children a change of pace at the park and onsen
After a stop at the reopened roadside station, add outdoor play at Caldera Park, a break at the onsen, or farm soft-serve ice cream. These separate stops give children time out of the car.
Roadside station toilets → Caldera Park → Caldera Onsen or Yamanaka Farm
The park closes in winter; adjust outdoor play for weather, insects, sun, and ground conditions.
