Drives toward Muroran, Toya, or Oshamambe
Turn a short Route 37 break into a taste of Toyoura
A toilet and drink stop can take only minutes, but here it is worth adding one Toyoura specialty: strawberry soft serve, a scallop snack, or something seasonal from the farm shop. Parking is less spacious than at a large roadside station, so on busy days decide what to buy instead of planning a long stay.
Near the junction of National Route 37 and Prefectural Route 97. The station is also close to Toyoura Station and convenient when coming down into town from Toyoura Interchange.
Last orders at the takeaway counter are generally at 15:30. Food choices narrow if you arrive in the evening.
Shopping and a sweet break from late April through June
In strawberry season, visit the farm shop first
Toyoura strawberry season gives the station a different feel. Browse strawberries in the farm shop, then try strawberry soft serve or a smoothie from the takeaway counter. Roadside strawberry stands also appear elsewhere in town, so you can get your bearings here before looking for more.

Direct sales depend on weather, growing conditions, and deliveries. Leave room in your plan for a sellout.
Mature scallops in winter, young scallops in spring, and seafood shopping
Come in the morning if scallops are your goal
Toyoura is closely tied to scallop farming in Funka Bay. Live scallops are popular and can sell out in the morning. Scallop rice and hotate-chimaki, rice parcels with scallops, are other takeaway or in-car meal options, depending on what is available.
Michi-no-Eki Toyoura in the morning → Toyoura Seaside Park or Natural Toyoura Onsen Shiosai after shopping.
Seafood changes with deliveries and the season. Check that day's tanks and prepared-food selection on arrival.
Families with preschoolers and breaks on long drives
With children, refresh at the station and head to the coast
The station is not a large playground or open-space complex. Use the toilets, get a snack, and browse the farm shop, then move on to Toyoura Seaside Park or the hot spring. With a stroller or small children, it can be easier to choose the next resting place in advance than to spend the whole break eating at the station.
Michi-no-Eki Toyoura → Toyoura Seaside Park → Natural Toyoura Onsen Shiosai.
Wind and weather change how the coast feels. On rainy days, consider the hot spring first.
Sunny days, adults taking photos, and short walks
Add the hilltop park to see Toyoura's landscape
Funka Bay Lookout Park gives a view of Toyoura Town, the sea, and the surrounding hills in one place. After sampling local food at the station, head uphill to see that Toyoura is framed by both coastline and greenery. This detour suits the park's spring-to-autumn opening season.
Michi-no-Eki Toyoura → Funka Bay Lookout Park; a short drive.
The listed opening period is mid-April through late November, generally 9:00–17:00. Do not force it into a winter or bad-weather itinerary.
Nature watching around October and a sense of local life
In autumn, follow salmon season to Indian Waterwheel Park
Indian Waterwheel Park is described as a place to watch salmon swimming upstream in the Nukkibetsu River in autumn. Start with Toyoura's scallops and strawberries at the station, then add the salmon run to connect the town's food and natural setting. It is an easy local story to share with children.
Michi-no-Eki Toyoura → Indian Waterwheel Park; plan to drive.
The listed opening season is May 1–November 30, and the salmon run generally peaks around October. What you can see varies by year and weather.
