Michi-no-Eki Ume is on National Route 326 near the border between Oita and Miyazaki prefectures. Utagenka Ohashi Bridge, which crosses Kitagawa Dam, is a landmark. The roadside station has a shop selling local agricultural and forestry products and a restaurant. On a journey through the mountains, you can combine a meal with shopping for local vegetables and fruit.
The direct sales shop carries local vegetables and fruit. Saiki City’s tourism guide highlights Ume grapes (宇目葡萄) in August and September. Choose from what is in season and what has arrived that day.
Meals are served from 11:00 to 14:00, separate from the station’s overall opening hours of 10:00 to 17:00. If you are heading to the adjacent Ume Camp Village or nearby Fujikawachi Gorge, plan your shopping and meal around these hours.
