Highlights

Asobo no Sato Kugino is a roadside station in the Kugino area of Minamiaso Village. It has the Shunsen Ajiwaikan local produce shop, places to eat, a lawn, a wooden deck and a free dog run, with views of the mountains. It suits both a food shopping stop and a visit with time to rest outdoors.

    Why I like it

    Reasons to stop here

    01

    Choose ingredients from South Aso

The produce shop stocks vegetables, tofu, konnyaku (a firm jelly made from konjac), miso, soba noodles, pickled takana mustard greens, boxed meals and more. At the Ajiwaikan eatery, you choose small dishes yourself and pay at the register; soba is also served.

    02

Akaushi beef and an outdoor break

Akaushi no Yakata, which serves beef from Aso’s red cattle, lists restaurant hours of 11:00–16:30, with orders taken until 16:00. If you plan to combine a meal with time on the lawn or at the dog run, check each facility’s closure days and conditions of use.
