Long drives toward Matsuyama, Imabari or Niihama
Make a break on the Matsuyama Expressway more memorable
Beside Ishizuchisan Service Area, the station is easy to reach from the expressway side for a break. Outdoor toilets are available 24 hours; during the day you can also visit the market and Montbell. Add mountain views, a little café time or produce shopping to your rest stop.
Beside Ishizuchisan Service Area on the Matsuyama Expressway. From the local-road side, Route 11 and Iyo-Komatsu Interchange provide access.
You cannot exit from Ishizuchisan Service Area onto local roads. To use the campground or visit nearby places on the local-road side, leave at Iyo-Komatsu Interchange and approach by local road.
Hiking, camping, cycling and first-time outdoor activities
Prepare for a trip to Mount Ishizuchi
Check local outdoor information at the visitor center and pick up any missing gear at Montbell. Climbing may be an option when available, but Montbell currently says climbing-pinnacle sessions are suspended for a safety inspection. Komatsu Oasis works as a preparation stop before heading into the mountains as well as a stop on the way back.

Mountain weather can differ from conditions on the plain. Allow time to check roads, weather and equipment before setting out.
Expressway breaks with preschoolers or elementary-school children
Restore children's energy with a little outdoor play
The children's area of Komatsu Central Park and the lawn are close by. A roller slide, net play equipment and open space give children a change from a long drive. Adults can visit the market or café while the family spends time in the same area.
Park → toilets → market or café → children's play area and lawn.
Play equipment is outdoors. In summer, plan for sun and water; on rainy days, switch to indoor options such as climbing or the market.
Days with little time or when you do not want a full meal
Take home local produce and sweets even on a short stop
Komatsu Oasis Market is enjoyable just for browsing vegetables, fruit, handmade sweets and locally processed products. Traditional sweets such as tanuki manju, yubeshi and amanatto alongside seasonal Saijo produce offer a glimpse of everyday local tastes. Tanuki manju is a local sweet bun, yubeshi a traditional confection, and amanatto sweetened beans.
Browse the market for just 10–20 minutes, then take a short café break.
Seasonal and popular goods change through the day. Expect fewer choices in the evening.
Short adult strolls and winter-to-spring detours
Explore camellias and parks while the onsen is closed
Tsubaki Onsen Komatsu is closed, but nearby Tsubaki House grows about 200 camellia varieties, including varieties distinctive to Komatsu, with seasonal interest from around December to April. Combine it with Hoanji Temple's peonies and Komatsu Central Park's cherry blossoms for a flower-and-walking break instead of a bath.
Komatsu Oasis → Tsubaki House → Komatsu Central Park / Hoanji Temple.
Bloom times shift with the weather. Check current flower and onsen reopening information for the day of your visit.
Auto campsites, open sites and day camping
Enter by local road when using the campground
The campground has 10 auto campsites and 10 open sites, with day-use and overnight options. Montbell equipment rental is also advertised, making it an option for visitors still assembling their kit. Pick up food at the market before a night at the mountain's foot.
Iyo-Komatsu Interchange → local road → Outdoor Oasis Ishizuchi Campground.
The campground cannot be accessed from the expressway side. Check current restrictions on pets, open fires, fireworks and generators before visiting; official information differs on whether pets are allowed at particular sites.
