How to enjoy

Choose how to enjoy your visit

Eat, shop, play, take in the view or rest. Choose from the station’s strengths to suit your day.

On arrival
Find parking and toilets first

If the front of the main building is crowded, consider the second parking area. With children, locate the nursing room and diaper changing area before shopping.

For lunch
Choose udon or eel first

Aim for udon around midday; check eel availability and wait times. If neither works, switch to sweets and the farmers' market.

For a sweet treat
Go to Ufu, Ichigo.

Strawberry soft serve, parfaits, drinks, and sweets suit a short break.

For shopping
Shop Ayagawa and San-san Hiroba

Browse udon souvenirs and strawberry products separately from seasonal vegetables and fruit.

From winter to spring
Check strawberry farm reservations

Reservations are required; the 2026 season ended on May 6. Check the next season's announcement before planning a visit.

If you have time
Walk to Takimiya Park or Takimiya Tenmangu

Both are a short walk away. Choose spring cherry blossoms at the park, or the shrine for prayers for academic success and a town stroll.

Ayano Kurose's take

Takimiya works best when you keep lunch plans flexible

Whether you come for udon, move on to strawberry sweets, or buy dinner ingredients at the farmers' market, you still get a sense of Takimiya. Find parking, toilets, and current opening hours first, then adapt the order of eating to the day's crowds.

First things to locate

Parking, toilets, and the nursing room. With these settled, families can browse without rushing.

When undecided

Choose udon for lunch, strawberry sweets for a short stop, or San-san Hiroba and Shop Ayagawa for food to take home.

When heading outdoors

Takimiya Park fits spring; Takimiya Tenmangu adds local culture; Takayama Aviation Park suits a sunny afternoon.

Highlights

Michi-no-Eki Takimiya, a Japanese roadside station, is a “home of udon and strawberries” with self-service Sanuki Udon no Eki Ayagawa, strawberry sweets at Ufu, Ichigo., a souvenir shop, a JA farmers' market, an eel restaurant, and a strawberry farm open from winter into spring in one place. On a Route 32 drive between Takamatsu and Kotohira, locate parking and toilets first, then choose lunch, sweets, shopping, or a walk to nearby Takimiya Park and Takimiya Tenmangu Shrine according to the weather and your time.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

Enjoy udon and strawberries in one stop

Around the same building, choose handmade self-service udon, strawberry sweets and products, and produce from the farmers' market. Takimiya works whether you want lunch, only a sweet treat, or something to take home.

02

Plan parking, toilets, and shopping easily

The main building and second parking area together offer plenty of spaces; the toilet building, EV charging, and vending machines remain useful outside shop hours. With children, find the toilets, nursing room, and diaper changing area first, then visit the udon, sweets, and market at an easy pace.

03

Add nearby cherry blossoms and a Tenmangu shrine

In spring, walk to the cherry blossoms at Takimiya Park; for a short town stroll, visit Takimiya Tenmangu, a shrine associated with scholarship. Both add Ayagawa's scenery and culture to the stop. In midsummer or rain, the station's food and shops may be the more comfortable choice.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

En route from Takamatsu to Kotohira, or in the opposite direction

Make a Route 32 lunch break feel like Kagawa

After parking and using the toilets, decide between udon and eel for lunch. If you prefer a lighter stop, sweets at Ufu, Ichigo. and shopping at the farmers' market still give you a taste of Takimiya.

Parking → toilets → udon or eel → Ufu, Ichigo. → Shop Ayagawa and San-san Hiroba.

Lunch service is fairly short at each shop. If you arrive late, switch to sweets and shopping.

A driving break with toddlers through elementary school children

Keep food and shopping in short stages with children

This is a place for short visits to toilets, the nursing room, food court, sweets, and farmers' market, rather than long play on large equipment. Pause for strawberry sweets or gelato before children tire, then resume the drive.

Allow for the second parking area → toilets and nursing room → meal → dessert → car.

The strawberry farm says there are no toilets on its grounds; use the station toilets before going there.

Cherry blossom season and a short walk after eating

Walk to Takimiya Park in spring

Takimiya Park lies along the Ayagawa River upstream of Fuchu Lake and is known for its cherry blossoms. After lunch and shopping, a short walk there in good weather turns a roadside stop into a spring outing.

Station → Takimiya Park → Takimiya Bridge area → station.

Parking and crowds change during blossom season. Hold young children's hands beside the river.

Bad weather or a day when you want no extra stops

Stay at the station on a rainy day

In the rain, skip the park and shrine and focus on udon, sweets, the farmers' market, and souvenirs. Food and shopping make the stop worthwhile even without a walk outdoors.

Covered shopping areas → food court → souvenirs → car.

You may need an umbrella when moving between buildings.

Elementary school children and a sunny afternoon

Add a viewpoint and aircraft for a half-day outing

After lunch and shopping, drive to Takayama Aviation Park for outdoor time overlooking the Sanuki Plain and Takamatsu Airport runway. Food and scenery make a fuller drive through central Kagawa.

Michi-no-Eki Takimiya → Takayama Aviation Park → Takamatsu Airport area or homeward route.

Check the weather and park opening hours in the hills, and allow time to travel before sunset.

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Under 1 year
★★★★☆

A nursing room, diaper changing facilities, and 24-hour toilets make this suitable for a short stop.

Locate the toilets and nursing room first; keep a carrier or stroller visit to the shops brief.

Ages 2–3
★★★☆☆

Sweets and brief shopping work well, but this is not a place for long play.

Keep the meal, strawberry sweets, and return to the car in short stages.

Ages 4–6
★★★★☆

Strawberry sweets, the farmers' market, and the seasonal strawberry farm can appeal to this age group.

In spring, add Takimiya Park; on a sunny afternoon, Takayama Aviation Park provides time to move around.

Elementary school age
★★★★☆

Udon, strawberries, the shrine, and Takayama Aviation Park offer several things to talk about.

After eating, a visit to Takimiya Tenmangu or the park with aircraft can make the outing more memorable.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

Strawberry sweets make a rewarding short break

Travel and food reviews often mention stopping for strawberry soft serve, parfaits, daifuku (sweet rice cakes), and drinks. Sweets alone can make a visit feel distinctly Takimiya.

Lunch choices narrow if you arrive late

Both udon and eel are mainly served at lunchtime. If you arrive late, leave room to switch from a meal to sweets, the farmers' market, and souvenirs.

Farm visits require reservations and toilet planning

The farm requires reservations and says it has no toilets on site. With children, use the station toilets before going to the farm entrance.

The farmers' market also stocks meal ingredients

San-san Hiroba lists meat, fresh fish, and processed foods as well as vegetables and fruit. It can serve both small travel purchases and shopping for your lodging or home.

Add a nearby sense of spring on foot

Takimiya Park is listed as a cherry blossom spot and is a short walk from the station. It suits a walk after eating, though crowds and parking during blossom season deserve extra attention.

Stay at the station in rain or extreme heat

The station is strongest for indoor food and shopping. When an outdoor walk is uncomfortable, skip the park and shrine and focus on sweets, souvenirs, and the farmers' market.

Takayama Aviation Park makes a good change of pace for children's outdoor play

On a sunny day, drive to Takayama Aviation Park rather than expecting long play at the station. There are views, aircraft, and play equipment to enjoy together.

Food mood

What would you like to eat?

A meal, a sweet treat, market shopping or something to take away: choose a focus for the day instead of trying everything at once.

Make it lunch

Choose udon for a Kagawa-style lunch, or eel for a leisurely meal. Both mainly serve at lunchtime, so arrive early.

Eel service may end when supplies run out.

Keep it light

Strawberry soft serve, parfaits, drinks, and gelato

Good options if you miss mealtime or want a short break with children.

Choose Kagawa souvenirs

Udon, strawberry products, and local sweets

Shop Ayagawa specializes in udon and strawberry goods, making a short shopping stop feel local.

Buy for dinner or your lodging

Vegetables, fruit, meat, fresh fish, and processed foods at San-san Hiroba

If buying for your lodging or home, consider refrigeration needs and time in the car.

The winter-to-spring highlight

Sanukihime strawberries, strawberry picking, and strawberry sweets

Strawberries are especially prominent from around December to May. Farm visits require reservations, so plan separately for shopping and picking.

The 2026 strawberry-picking season ended on May 6.

Alternatives when busy

If the meal queue is long, shop first or visit the small photo spot to use the wait with your family.
