A break during an expressway journey
Eat and shop in 30 minutes around the IC
With Chiyoda IC so close, this station deserves more than a toilet stop. Choose Mai Rō Don or noodles at Kitahiro Shokudō, then pick up a vegetable, rice or a processed food at the produce market for a small taste of Kitahiroshima Town.
Parking → Kitahiro Shokudō → Kitahiro Produce Market → return to the IC.
Light meals are generally available until 15:00. The produce market closes earlier in winter.
Lunch on a weekend drive
Put lunch at Hibiki first and shop afterward
If you want a full lunch, look at Restaurant Hibiki first. Admission ends relatively early, so it is easier to plan the meal before spending too long in the produce market, then come back to shop.
Restaurant Hibiki → produce market → tourist information desk.
Closed Wednesdays. On busy or event days, leave room to switch to Kitahiro Shokudō.
A day to sample traditional performing arts
Stay into the evening on Kagura Day
On some Kagura Days, a receipt for food or shopping is required to watch. Admission and queuing arrangements begin during the 15:00 hour, so arriving before the last minute gives you time for lunch, shopping and a break before the evening performance.
Produce market and meal → check venue instructions → kagura performance.
Follow the official notice for that year's dates, performers, capacity and receipt requirements.
An adult detour or rainy day
Make a half-day cultural route with folk arts and Kobori Yakushi
After seeing signs of kagura and hanadaue at the station, add the Geihoku Folk Performing Arts Preservation and Heritage Museum and Kobori Yakushi to see more of Kitahiroshima's rural culture. A meal, exhibits, Buddhist statues and souvenirs make a half-day route less dependent on the weather.
Roadside station → Geihoku Folk Performing Arts Preservation and Heritage Museum → Kobori Yakushi → produce market shopping.
Many cultural venues close on Mondays, and admission ends before evening.
A seasonal drive in May or June
During hanadaue season, see the rice field event first
When Mibu no Hanadaue or other local hayashida rice planting events take place, the station makes a convenient base before or after visiting. See the decorated cattle, rice planting music and kagura goods at the station, then head to the event with more context.
Check information at the station → hanadaue venue area → produce market on the return trip.
Dates, traffic restrictions and parking change each year. Check the latest Tourism Association information.
