How to enjoy

Choose how to enjoy your visit

Eat, shop, play, take in the view or rest. Choose from the station’s strengths to suit your day.

Decide first
A fishing day or a seaside break?

Entry to the fishing area costs money and there is no admission category for sightseeing only. For a visit focused on views and rest, stick to the free area and roadside station facilities.

If fishing
Check numbered tickets and gear first

Numbered entry tickets may be issued earlier when busy. Prepare for mandatory life jacket use and bring your own fishing gear and life jacket; neither is available to rent.

If eating
Lunch at Totto Shokudo

Indoor dining is generally 11:00–15:00, with last orders at 14:45. Bento sale times and weekdays vary in the notices, so check the official operating notice if the meal is central to your visit.

If resting
24-hour parking and toilets

On a coastal drive along Prefectural Route 65, stop briefly for the toilet, a drink and a sea view.

If adding a stop
Shrine, temple, baths and park

Kojima Sumiyoshi Myojin Shrine is nearby. Piazza 5 is an option after rain or heat; Sennan Satoumi Park extends a day by the sea.

Sakurako's rest-stop notes

A place to plan sea views and fishing, rather than a shopping stop

Sakurako Chitose sees this station as a sea fishing park with a restaurant. First work out parking, toilets, opening hours and fishing-entry conditions, then add lunch, the shop, a nearby shrine or baths. Non-fishers can enjoy views and a break; expect a smaller retail stop than a typical roadside station with a large produce market.

Thinking of sea-view breaks and fully equipped fishing days as separate visits makes Totto Park Kojima much easier to use.

Highlights

Michi-no-Eki Totto Park Kojima is a roadside station with a sea fishing park, built around a pier once used to load earth for the Kansai International Airport reclamation project. Its main draw is the water, rather than a large local-products market. For a fishing day, plan for the numbered entry ticket, life jacket and fishing gear. For a break without fishing, use the 24-hour parking and toilets, views from the free area and a short lunch stop. Add Kojima Sumiyoshi Myojin Shrine, Richiin Temple, Piazza 5 or Sennan Satoumi Park for a half-day along Misaki Town's coast.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

A seaside roadside station where the pier is the destination

The pier stretching into the sea, fishing deck and observation deck are the heart of this stop. The shop and restaurant alone may feel small, but watching the sea and the catch, and spending time alongside family members who fish, brings out what makes Totto Park Kojima distinctive.

02

Prepare for fishing; keep a rest stop brief

Fishing area visitors need to plan for admission fees, numbered entry tickets, life jackets, rods and tackle. Rods and life jackets are not available to rent, so this is not a place to arrive empty-handed for a long fishing visit. Parking, toilets and a public phone are available 24 hours, making it a convenient short stop on a coastal drive along Prefectural Route 65.

03

Plan lunch around Totto Shokudo

Totto Shokudo mainly serves lunch indoors. Its official operating notice gives 11:00–15:00, with last orders at 14:45, as a guide. Bento boxed meals and shop stock vary by day, so aim for midday and avoid relying on the restaurant as your only meal plan.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

Families and friends prepared for fishing

Arrive in the morning to fish

By the previous day, check opening hours, closure days, numbered tickets, recent catches and tides, and prepare life jackets and gear. In the parking area follow numbered-space rules and staff directions. At the fishing deck, choose a place with shade, railings and the height above the water in mind.

Parking → numbered ticket → reception → fishing deck → Totto Shokudo or shop

Fishing gear and life jackets are not available to rent. Children below elementary school age enter free, but fish within the same allocation as the paying adult accompanying them.

Adult and senior travelers on the Misaki–Kada Port Line

Take a short break on a coastal drive

Use this stop for a toilet break, a drink and sea views rather than a long shopping visit. The views toward Awaji Island and Kansai International Airport change with the weather; on a clear afternoon, enjoy the observation area first.

Park → toilet → look at the sea from the free area → vending machines and information corner → depart

There is no sightseeing-only admission to the fishing area. If you are not fishing, plan around the areas available free of charge.

Days when you want a little more local character

Combine lunch with a walk through Kojima's history

Have lunch at Totto Shokudo, then visit Kojima Sumiyoshi Myojin Shrine. A short walk around this shrine devoted to safety at sea and its ubamegashi oak grove offers a glimpse of Kojima life beyond the fishing park.

Station → Totto Shokudo → Kojima Sumiyoshi Myojin Shrine → return along the coast

The shrine is a quiet place of local worship. Respect nearby residential roads when parking and walking.

Families with children, post-fishing visits and summer afternoons

Head for baths or indoor facilities on rainy or hot days

The fishing area has some shade and shelter from rain, but it is an exposed overwater facility. Rather than staying all day, move to Piazza 5's baths or heated pool in the afternoon to give children and adults a break.

Fishing or break at station → Piazza 5 → homeward journey

Piazza 5 closes on Mondays; its baths and pool have different opening hours.

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Age 1 and under
★★☆☆☆

A toilet stop is possible, but a long fishing visit needs preparation.

Expect sea wind, sun and waiting. This is not a dedicated nursing or diaper-changing stop; a brief toilet break is more realistic.

Ages 2–3
★★★☆☆

Railings and shade help, but close supervision and managing wait times are essential.

The fishing area has railings, but it is still waterside. Have one adult watch the child while another fishes, and allow time for breaks.

Ages 4–6
★★★★☆

Fish, sea and pier can be engaging; a first fishing experience may suit children with the right gear.

Bring a life jacket, tackle and sun protection. Use the shop, restaurant or observation area for a change of pace while waiting for a bite.

Elementary school children
★★★★☆

Checking catch reports and choosing target fish becomes part of the fun.

Targets change by season, including horse mackerel, mackerel, girella, red sea bream and octopus. Explain fishing rules and the numbered-ticket process beforehand so waiting is part of the outing.

Event

Latest catches

The official catch report was updated as recently as July 14, 2026, and lists Japanese blue mackerel, horse mackerel, red sea bream, blackfin seabass, bigfin reef squid, common octopus and girella, among others. Check it before event information when planning a fishing trip.

Numbered entry tickets

Notices say tickets are issued in the parking area from 5:00 a.m. on weekdays, weekends and holidays, or 6:00 a.m. in winter. Distribution may start earlier when busy, so check the day's notice.

Totto Shokudo operating notice

An official notice within the catch-report section lists indoor dining at 11:00–15:00, last orders at 14:45, and bento sales around 10:30–11:00.

Fishing events

Past events have involved tackle shops and instructors. The park may open for an event even on its usual Friday closure day; check official notices and organizer information separately.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

More sea fishing park than retail roadside station

The official website focuses on catches, the fishing area, fees, numbered tickets and fish species. Visitor reviews also suggest limited appeal for shopping, so plan a fishing visit or seaside break rather than a retail trip.

Numbered tickets and parking rules shape the visit

Ticket guidance refers to numbered parking spaces and waiting in your car; busy days may bring earlier distribution. Beginners will find it easier to read the process before arriving.

Families need safety gear and shared supervision

The fishing area has railings and shade and welcomes women and children. Life jackets are required, no rentals are available, the deck sits above the water, and waits can be long. Divide fishing and child supervision between adults.

Lunch works best at midday

Totto Shokudo centers on indoor lunch, with bento sales announced for a short window. Meal choices shrink outside those hours, so plan fishing and lunch times separately.

Fish and comfort change with the seasons

The official monthly species guide shows seasons for horse mackerel, black sea bream, red sea bream, rockfish, cutlassfish, bigfin reef squid and octopus. Allow for summer sun and hydration, winter sea winds and seasonal opening hours as well as catch prospects.

Indoor dining is generally 11:00–15:00, with last orders at 14:45. Fit lunch around fishing or a break after watching the sea.

For a quick bite

Bento boxed meals, vending machines

Bento sales have specific day and time guidance, so treat them as a backup rather than a sure meal. Vending machines supply drinks.

For fishing preparation

Bait, ice and fishing supplies from the shop

The shop carries some bait and ice, but does not rent fishing rods or life jackets. Bring tackle and safety gear.

Add a stop on the way back

Piazza 5 restaurant and rest facilities; other nearby food options

If you miss the station's meal hours, shift plans toward the bath facility or park and keep another food option open.

Enjoy seasonal fish

Horse mackerel, red sea bream, black sea bream, bigfin reef squid and other pelagic fish

Check the official monthly species guide and latest catch reports to plan a fishing trip, rather than assuming a particular fish will be available to eat.
