A drive north on Route 162
Stop before entering Miyama from Kyoto City
The route from Kyoto City is described as taking about 90 minutes, with some mountain driving before arrival. Settle in at the toilets and parking area, browse the farm shop, and add a sweet treat from the Milk Studio. Even a quick stop offers a taste of Miyama.
Kyoto City area → National Route 162 → Miyama Fureai Plaza → Kayabuki no Sato area.
On weekends and event days, be mindful of parking turnover and consider keeping your stop short.
A stop outside the usual lunch hour
Enjoy a light meal and shopping rather than a full restaurant meal
There is no large restaurant on the grounds. Combine a boxed meal or oyaki from Furatto Miyama with soft serve, gelato and local produce. Oyaki are filled Japanese dumplings. You can also sample Miyama flavors here when dining elsewhere.
Farm shop → Milk Studio → supplies for the drive.
Boxed meals and popular items may become less available later in the day.

A seasonal drive
Think of ayu and the river in summer, foliage in autumn, and snow in winter
In summer, look for Miyama River ayu, a local sweetfish, and food trucks; in autumn, foliage and markets; in winter, snowy views at Kayabuki no Sato and the winter lantern event. The roadside station is a useful place to check current events and road conditions.

This is a mountain area: check early for rain, snow, icy roads and event cancellations.
