Toilets and a driving break
Take a 10-minute break on the lakeside road
Use the parking, toilets, and lawn for a quick refresh without looking for a shop. This is a straightforward break for passengers on a western Lake Biwa drive or cyclists passing through.
Park → toilets → breathe on the lawn → return to Prefectural Route 333.
Bring a drink or plan a meal elsewhere.
Meals, overnight stays, and day-use activities
Make STAGEX Takashima your destination
After stopping at the roadside station, head next door for STAGEX Takashima’s glamping, BBQ, sauna, or café. If you want Takashima ingredients or fermented BBQ, check reservations and hours in advance.
Meet and rest at the roadside station → check in or register for day use at STAGEX Takashima → meal and sauna.
Operating days and plans change; check STAGEX Takashima’s official reservations and News.
A spring lakeside drive
Drive the cherry-lined Windmill Road
Takashima City describes about 6 km of cherry trees along Prefectural Route 333. At peak bloom, the entire road, not only the station, becomes the attraction. Even on a short visit, see the blossoms, lawn, and lake to get a feel for Shin-asahi.
Lakeside Road → break at Shinasahi Windmill Village → drive slowly along the cherry avenue.
Allow for road and parking congestion during blossom season; leave some time for the stop.
Families with preschool and primary-school children
Let children play at Lake Biwa Children’s Land
The station lawn works for a break but offers limited play. For large play equipment, lawns, and indoor facilities, drive to Lake Biwa Children’s Land for a longer family outing.
Toilets at the roadside station → Lake Biwa Children’s Land → shopping at Tōju no Sato Adogawa on the way back.
Check summer sun exposure, winter closing days, and parking fees.
A local walk for adults
Explore Harie’s spring-water way of life
To learn more about Shin-asahi, visit Harie Shozu-no-Sato. Its springs and kabata, household spaces that use flowing spring water, add another side to Takashima’s waterside landscape.
Shinasahi Windmill Village → Harie Shozu-no-Sato → Marugoto Department Store or the Adogawa area.
Tours generally require reservations and a check of guided-tour days. Respect the quiet residential village.
A shopping-focused drive
Find a meal and souvenirs in Adogawa
If you want to shop at a roadside station, Shinasahi Windmill Village alone will not meet that need. Michi-no-Eki Tōju no Sato Adogawa on National Route 161 offers direct sales, souvenirs, meals, and a convenience store.
Lakeside break → Tōju no Sato Adogawa → return via National Route 161.
Check Tōju no Sato Adogawa’s closing days and hours for each shop.
