A meal break for adults or families
Choose soba and seafood separately on a lunch break from the Hokuriku Expressway
Next to Nanjo Service Area, the station lets expressway travelers use its food hall without leaving the highway. Imajo oroshi soba, Sea of Japan seafood, meat dishes, pasta, and sweets are available on the same floor, making it easier for family members with different tastes to choose.
Park → FOOD HALL Me → MARKET Me → toilets → depart
Opening hours and last-order times differ by shop. At lunchtime and on holidays, keep a cafe, sweets, or takeaway option in mind if your first choice has a wait.
Families with preschool and elementary-school children
Let children play, then shop at a more relaxed pace
Let children move about in the third-floor kids' room and, in fine weather, take the long slide to Sankairi Park. Playing first can give adults more time to browse souvenirs and vegetables at MARKET Me. Indoor play is also available on rainy days.
Toilets → kids' room → Sankairi Park → FOOD HALL Me → MARKET Me
The kids' room is generally open 10:00–17:00 and requires a parent or guardian. Adjust outdoor playtime for sun, rain, and winter cold.
A day combining seasonal flowers and food
Spend a half day with Hanahasu Park in summer
Hanahasu Park is especially appealing from early through late summer. The lotuses look best in the morning, so walk through the park first, then add soba, seafood, sweets, and souvenirs at the roadside station to combine Minami-Echizen's rural scenery with its food.
Hanahasu Park → lunch at the roadside station → MARKET Me → Waterland Nanjo or head home
During the lotus festival, traffic restrictions and shuttle-bus information may be issued. Prepare for the heat and plan for an early visit.
A detour for adults and history enthusiasts
Continue to Imajo-juku for a short walk after eating
After eating Imajo soba at the station, travel to Imajo-juku, a post town on the historic Hokkoku Road. Its streets are designated an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The quiet townscape rewards an unhurried walk after lunch.
Roadside station → Imajo-juku → Imajo Station area → head home
Most of the town walk is outdoors. Keep it short in midsummer or snow, and check opening days for sake breweries and information facilities in advance.
Families with children in winter; an evening detour
Eat early before a winter night event
In some winters, Sankairi Park has illuminations and projection mapping. If visiting the park at night, eat at the food hall first, dress warmly, and keep the outdoor visit short.
Early evening meal → MARKET Me → Sankairi Park → depart
Winter event dates change each year, and bad weather can cause cancellations. Check official and tourism sites for the current schedule.
