Highlights

Just off the Chirihama IC on the Noto Satoyama Kaido, Michi-no-Eki Noto Chirihama is convenient before or after the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway. Kawanchi Mart sells naturally grown produce, Hakui rice, processed Noto-shishi (local wild boar) products, and seasonal vegetables. For lunch, try a Noto beef bowl or clam ramen at Nagisa Restaurant; for something lighter, choose brown-rice-flour bread or Malga Gelato. A free tire shower removes sand after a beach drive, while a footbath offers a break from driving. Eating, shopping, and freshening up all fit into one stop.

Food and shopping / a seaside route

A station that comes into its own after a Chirihama drive

More than a shop beside a sightseeing spot, the station links a seaside drive with food to take home. Rinse off the sand, rest your feet, pick up bread or gelato, then choose Hakui rice or Noto-shishi wild boar products at the farm shop. That sequence makes even a short break satisfying.

Morning

Check Chirihama traffic information first, then visit the bakery and farm shop early, before items sell out or deliveries change the selection.

Midday

If the restaurant is the focus, check which menu is served that day. Leave time for bread, gelato, or the farm shop if it is busy.

Evening

For sunset, head to the sea before sundown. Use the station for a tire rinse and final purchases on the way back.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

Finish your post-beach chores here

The drivable section of the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway changes with weather and waves. On a day when you can drive it, use the free tire shower afterward. If it closes, switch to food and shopping at the station, so the stop still works even when plans change.

02

Several choices for a meal, bread, or sweets

You need not rely on the restaurant alone: aim for a Noto beef bowl or clam ramen, pick up brown-rice-flour bread for the car, or finish a shorter stop with Malga Gelato.

03

Hakui flavors gather in the farm shop

Naturally grown produce, Hakui rice, Noto-shishi wild boar, local sweets, and seasonal vegetables make the farm shop a place to bring your Noto trip home. If eating and shopping matter to you, it may be worth a second look before leaving.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

A sunny seaside drive

Drive Chirihama, then tend to car and body at the station

Check whether the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway is open and enjoy the beach first when driving is allowed. On returning, rinse off sand at the tire shower, then pause at the footbath or for gelato. This helps keep sand out of the car and makes a welcome break.

Check Ishikawa road information → Chirihama Nagisa Driveway → Michi-no-Eki Noto Chirihama → farm shop.

Westerly winds and waves can close the beach route. If driving is impossible, switch to the station and nearby spots.

A lunch break from the Kanazawa direction

Make food the focus of a short midday stop

For lunch, consider a Noto beef bowl, seafood bowl, or Nagisa clam ramen. Menus vary by day, so keep brown-rice-flour bread and gelato in mind rather than counting on one restaurant dish.

Chirihama IC → restaurant → bakery → farm shop.

The restaurant lists Wednesday as a regular closure. Menus and serving days can change; check its official page.

Families with uncertain weather

Space for children, shopping for adults: half a day

If wind or rain makes the beach difficult, combine the station with indoor time at Cosmo Isle Hakui. At the station, keep the stop to bread, gelato, toilets, and a little shopping to avoid tiring children with a long wait.

Michi-no-Eki Noto Chirihama → Cosmo Isle Hakui → recheck Chirihama access if time permits.

Cosmo Isle Hakui normally closes Tuesdays; consult its official guidance for holidays and extended vacation periods.

An adult half-day drive

A quiet half-day at Noto’s gateway, shrine and sea

Eat something light at the station before visiting Keta Taisha. The contrast between the bright coast and the quiet Irarazu no Mori sacred grove gives this route a sense of Hakui’s history beyond food and shopping.

Michi-no-Eki Noto Chirihama → Keta Taisha → area around Chirihama Rest House.

Allow extra time for a shrine visit on event days or when nearby roads are busy.

A day for photography and the sea

For sunset, do not leave the station until last

On a sunset day, finish shopping at the station first and move to the coast before sundown. Shops may close if you linger by the sea, so secure what you want to buy or eat beforehand.

Shop at the station → Chirihama Nagisa Driveway or the area around the rest house → onward journey.

The shore can be windy in the evening. For children, bring warm layers and a way to deal with sand.

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Age 1 and under
★★★☆☆

Toilets, a short shopping stop, and a break in the car are easy to plan.

The beach can be windy and sandy; centering the break at the station may be easier.

Ages 2–3
★★★★☆

Gelato, bread, and a short outdoor walk can provide a change of pace.

Choose purchases in advance rather than spending too long browsing the farm shop, to avoid tiring children with a wait.

Ages 4–6
★★★★☆

Chirihama Beach, the dog run, and Cosmo Isle Hakui offer variety.

If beach driving is closed, the nearby indoor space museum is an easy alternative.

Elementary school age
★★★★★

Beach driving, the tire shower, and the space museum offer plenty to talk about on a half-day route.

Cars, bicycles, and pedestrians share the beach; decide where to stop and where children may walk.

Rainy day

Combine shopping and dining at the station with Cosmo Isle Hakui instead of relying on the beach.

Very hot day

The beach can have strong sun and reflected heat. Keep the station stop short for gelato or shopping.

Traveling with dogs

Official information says small and medium dogs can use it free without registration. Check the rules posted on site.

Dealing with sand

After driving Chirihama, rinse sand and seawater from the underside of the car. A towel for feet also helps.

Rest

Ideas for a restful stop

  1. 1
    Park near the station

Just off Chirihama IC, the station suits a first rest after a long drive. When busy, locate the toilets and a seat first.

  2. 2
    Shift your meal time

The restaurant lunch period is short. Avoid the peak or be ready to switch to bread and gelato.

  3. 3
    Check the footbath season

The free footbath is listed as closed in winter. When it is unavailable, rest at the farm shop and information area.

Event

Make an event part of your visit

Permanent spaces and dated events are listed separately. Events can change both the atmosphere and crowds; use the official links for details.

Checking event dates.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

Seasonal choices change at the farm shop

The official farm-shop guide lists nanohana greens and snap peas in spring, watermelon and grapes in summer, rice and persimmons in autumn, and daikon radish in winter. Stop near the end of your trip for something to enjoy at home.

Separate dog-run time from beach time

The station advertises a free dog run for small and medium dogs. Cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians share the beach, so letting your dog take a break at the station may be more practical.
