Highlights

Michi-no-Eki Noto Satoyama Airport is an unusual roadside station that uses the airport terminal itself as a rest stop. Check Noto road conditions and business updates at the first-floor tourist information center, browse local sake, dried fish, and sweets at the second-floor shop, and dine overlooking the runway at third-floor Restaurant Annon. It is useful both for air passengers and for planning a drive into northern Noto. Since the Noto Peninsula earthquake, roads, transport, and nearby facilities can change, so checking current information here before traveling onward can make the trip easier.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

Use the airport itself as a roadside station

Instead of a separate farm shop, this roadside station uses the airport terminal's facilities as a travel stop. Parking, restrooms, tourist information, shops, and a restaurant are connected indoors, making it easier to move around on rainy or hot days. Even when you are not flying, it is a useful place to gather information and take a breather before entering northern Noto.

02

Compare souvenirs on the first and second floors

First-floor Shop Tsukushi is an easy stop for a small treat such as Noto Airport soft-serve ice cream. Second-floor Serendipity offers Noto specialties including sweets, local sake, and dried fish. Stop on the first floor for a quick visit, or go up to the second for a fuller selection. Planning for both floors helps you avoid missing part of the shopping.

03

Allow time to enjoy the runway view with your meal

Third-floor Restaurant Annon has full-height windows overlooking the runway while you eat. Flights are infrequent, so consult the timetable if you hope to see a takeoff or landing. A break around a scheduled arrival or departure makes more of the airport setting than a rushed meal alone.

04

Check current conditions before a drive through recovering Noto

Since the Noto Peninsula earthquake, information about roads, transport, attractions, accommodation, and events has remained subject to change. Pick up brochures and local updates at the Noto Travel Information Center, and check official notices about transport and opening status before setting out. This makes detours easier to plan realistically.

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

Drives toward Wajima, Suzu, Noto Town, or Anamizu

Gather information before heading into northern Noto

Park at the airport, then use the first-floor restroom and tourist information center. Checking road access, which facilities are open, and meal options here can help you avoid surprises at your next stop. The Noto Travel Information Center is especially useful on a first drive through northern Noto.

Free parking → first-floor restroom and travel information center → shop → depart for your destination

Restoration work and transport conditions can make journeys longer than usual. Leave room in your schedule.

Families with children, rainy days, and plane enthusiasts

Eat at the airport and watch planes during a short stay

Eat at third-floor Restaurant Annon, then, if the timing works, watch takeoffs and landings from the observation deck or a window. Flights are relatively few, so matching your visit to the timetable makes the experience more memorable. Most of the visit can be spent indoors, which helps when the weather is uncertain.

Shop Tsukushi → Restaurant Annon → observation deck or an indoor break

The observation deck may be unavailable during construction or events. Plane watching also depends on flight operations.

The end of a trip, before or after a flight, or a brief shopping stop

Buy Noto souvenirs before heading home

You can browse Noto sweets, local sake, dried fish, and airport snacks in one stop. Going up to the second floor instead of stopping at the first gives you more choices. Sort purchases by what needs chilling, what you will eat in the car, and what you will take home.

First-floor Tsukushi → second-floor Serendipity → parking area

Popular or seasonal items may run low at certain times. Late in the day, expect fewer meal and shopping choices.

A morning at the market followed by afternoon scenery

Link a Wajima market visit with Shiroyone Senmaida

Shop at the temporary Wajima Morning Market in the morning, pause at the airport around midday for a break and travel updates, then continue to Shiroyone Senmaida in the afternoon. This combines food, shopping, and scenery. If you hope to see the sunset, allow extra time for the return drive and current road conditions.

Noto Satoyama Airport → temporary Wajima Morning Market at Wai Plaza Wajima → Shiroyone Senmaida

The market is closed on Wednesdays. Whether Senmaida's evening events take place varies by year.

Before your visit

Things to check before setting out

Opening and closure days, individual businesses and facilities for children or dogs can affect your plans.

  • Before heading into northern Noto, check roads and business status through official airport, tourism, and road-information sources.
  • To watch planes, use the timetable through October 24, 2026, with two daily round trips to Haneda as a guide, and time your visit around arrivals or departures.
  • Parking is free and spacious, although some spaces are restricted for disaster repairs. Follow posted signs and consider Parking Lot 2.
  • Before deciding on souvenirs, visit the second-floor shop as well as the first; it has more Noto specialties.
  • The observation deck is open 8:30–17:30 with free admission. Notices may change on event days, so check the latest update if plane watching is your main reason for visiting.
  • Nearby attractions differ in their reopening status. Check information at the airport and avoid overloading your route to enjoy your Noto trip.
Food mood

What would you like to eat?

A meal, a sweet treat, market shopping or something to take away: choose a focus for the day instead of trying everything at once.

Sit down for a full meal

Restaurant Annon

The main choice for a seated meal with a runway view. Going up to the airport's top floor makes a roadside stop feel a little more special.

Last orders are at 16:30. Flight times or group visits may make a leisurely meal difficult.

Add a quick sweet treat

Shop Tsukushi / Noto Airport soft-serve ice cream

A short break from driving. The first-floor location makes it a quick stop, including for families with children.

What is served and what is in stock may vary by day.

Choose a Noto souvenir

Shop Serendipity / Noto sweets / local sake / dried fish

Visit the second floor too if you want to buy several gifts at the end of your trip. Think of the food you can bring home from Noto as well as airport souvenirs.

For alcohol and dried fish, consider travel time, refrigeration, and who is driving before buying.

Turn travel information into a shopping idea

Brochures at the Noto Travel Information Center / local products in the shops

After choosing the next town to visit at the tourist information center, look for products from that area in the shops. This can give your souvenirs a connection to your route.

Nearby facilities' opening status can change, so check current notices along with the brochures.

Pick up something for the car

Sweets / drinks / easy-to-carry souvenirs

Distances between stops in northern Noto can feel long. If your next meal is uncertain, a few easy-to-share items for the car can help.

Cars can get hot in summer; avoid items that melt or spoil easily.
