Tsukude Tezukuri Mura is a roadside station in the Tsukude area of Shinshiro City. It has the Yamagaichi (山家市) farm produce market, the Aisaikan (味彩館) dining hall, Yuki Kobo (勇気工房), which sells gohei-mochi and other foods, and Tonchinkan (とんちん館) for craft experiences. A visit can center on a meal and shopping for produce, with an experience added on weekends.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

Choose rice and vegetables from Tsukude

Yamagaichi (山家市) stocks seasonal vegetables, wild mountain plants, mushrooms, rice, eggs, milk, and more. Locally grown Mineasahi rice is also used in meals at Aisaikan.

02

Highland tomato dishes and gohei-mochi

Aisaikan serves hayashi rice, a rice dish with a rich tomato-based sauce, tomato soft-serve ice cream, and chikara udon made with Okumikawa spinach. Yuki Kobo sells gohei-mochi, a local grilled rice snack with sweet miso sauce, and handmade konnyaku, a firm jelly-like food made from konjac. It offers snacks separately from the dining hall.

03

Check opening days and reservations before trying an activity

Tonchinkan lists hours of 10:00–16:00 on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays; reservations are required at other times. For wood and bamboo crafts, gohei-mochi making, and other activities, whether an advance reservation is needed depends on the activity.
