How to enjoy

Choose how to enjoy your visit

Eat, shop, play, take in the view or rest. Choose from the station’s strengths to suit your day.

First on arrival
Find the toilets and rest room, and check the Mount Fuji view

The first few minutes of a long-distance stop set the pace. Decide whether to sit down for a meal or just get bread and water.

If stopping in the morning
Visit the produce market and have restaurant breakfast

The produce and souvenir shops open at 7:00; the restaurant opens at 8:00. This makes it easy to combine shopping and breakfast on Route 246.

If eating here
Try a set meal or rice bowl with a Mount Fuji view

Rice is Shizuoka-grown Koshihikari. Choose a portion that suits you from Kintaro Power Rice Bowl, Mount Fuji curry, barley rice with grated yam, soba, or udon.

If buying souvenirs
Kintaro Baum cake and mizukakena pickles

Mizukakena pickles are a seasonal item sold around February each year. Kintaro Baum cake, local rice and vegetables, and fresh bread are the main options at other times.

With children
Use Yosawa Park, the rest room, and the mamaro baby care room

Children can stretch their legs in the lawn park beside the station. For a longer play session, drive on to Kintoki Park.

For more scenery
Go to Chikai-no-Oka Park or the Kintaro Fujimi Line

If seeing Mount Fuji is the main aim, visit viewpoints in the morning before clouds develop.

Highlights

Fujioyama is a roadside station with the things drivers actually need. Shops open at 7:00, and the restaurant offers breakfast and set meals with a view of Mount Fuji. Kintaro Bakery, Kintaro Baum cake, mizukakena pickles, Kintaro's Water, and a 24-hour rest room bring a taste of Oyama even to a short stop. For children, try nearby Yosawa Park for a little outdoor time or Kintoki Park for a longer play break. It is a useful Route 246 base before or after Fuji Speedway or the Kintaro Fujimi Line.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

A proper morning break on Route 246

The shop and produce market open at 7:00, making this a convenient morning stop toward Gotemba or when entering Shizuoka from Kanagawa. The 24-hour rest room, toilets, and parking make it easy to refresh even on a short driving break.

02

Meals and bread with a Mount Fuji view

Large restaurant windows face Mount Fuji. Choose from breakfast, set meals, Mount Fuji curry, Kintaro Power Rice Bowl, soba, and udon; next door, Kintaro Bakery offers freshly baked bread. The range helps when companions want different sized meals.

03

Take home Kintaro treats and Oyama's water tradition

Look for Kintaro Baum cake, Kintaro-themed goods, winter mizukakena pickles (pickled local leafy greens), Gotemba Koshihikari rice, local vegetables, flowers, and handmade boxed meals. Kintaro's Water is free to use and gives this stop another distinctly Oyama touch.

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

Morning drives from Kanagawa toward Gotemba and Oyama

Turn a Route 246 morning break into breakfast and shopping

The shop and produce market open early, so this can be more than a toilet stop. Browse vegetables and flowers, then have breakfast at the restaurant from 8:00. Once Kintaro Bakery opens, pick up bread for the car.

Near the Yosawa intersection on National Route 246; easy to include when coming from the Tomei Expressway Gotemba interchange area.

The bakery and stand open later than the main station facilities. Check each outlet's hours for a morning stop.

Drivers wanting a substantial midday break and families with different appetites

Make the Mount Fuji-view restaurant your lunch stop

The modern Japanese-style restaurant faces Mount Fuji and serves set meals, rice bowls, curry, and noodles. Some may choose Kintaro Power Rice Bowl or Mount Fuji curry; children can have a kids' meal, while lighter eaters can choose soba or udon.

Decide whether to shop at the produce market before or after eating to keep the visit simple.

Holiday lunchtimes and event days can make the restaurant and bakery busy. Browsing the bakery or shops first can help pass the wait.

Driving breaks with preschool and elementary-school children

A short family break here, then more play at Kintoki Park

Yosawa Park, the rest room, and a baby care room make the station enough for a short break. If the children still have energy, continue to Kintoki Park for its Kintaro Terrace, lawn, play equipment, and roofed sumo ring.

Michi-no-Eki Fujioyama → Kintoki Park; approximately 10 minutes by car.

In midsummer or rain, use the station's rest room first and keep outdoor play short.

Race and event spectators, early departures, and breaks on the return trip

Stock up before a Fuji Speedway visit

Before heading to Fuji Speedway, expect congestion near the venue and use the station's toilets while picking up drinks, bread, and boxed meals. On the way back, pause in the 24-hour rest room before rejoining Route 246.

Michi-no-Eki Fujioyama → Fuji Speedway East Gate area; approximately 10–15 minutes by car.

Traffic and parking conditions change during major events. Prioritize Fuji Speedway's official calendar and traffic guidance.

Adults and families with grandparents seeking scenery after a meal

Add cherry blossoms in spring or autumn leaves in fall

In spring, go to Fuji Reien, known for cherry blossoms; in fall, visit Hōmon Park for autumn leaves and historic buildings. A single added stop turns station shopping into an easy seasonal outing.

Fuji Reien is about 15 minutes away by car; Hōmon Park about 10 minutes.

Blossom and foliage timing varies. Check current updates from the tourism association or facility before setting out.

Photography, a short Mount Fuji viewpoint visit, and clear-weather detours

Put Chikai-no-Oka first on a Mount Fuji day

Chikai-no-Oka Park is a viewpoint on the Kintaro Fujimi Line. If Mount Fuji is the priority, see it while skies are clear, before shopping at the station.

Michi-no-Eki Fujioyama → Chikai-no-Oka Park; approximately 15–20 minutes by car.

The Oyama Tourism Association says the park reopened on August 11, 2026, after renovation. Check its current visitor information before going.

The 24-hour rest room and private baby care room help with a short meal-and-shopping stop.

Ages 2–3
★★★☆☆

Children can move around a little at Yosawa Park; for play equipment, continue to Kintoki Park.

Ages 4–6
★★★★☆

Bread, soft-serve ice cream, Mount Fuji, and Kintaro motifs appeal to this age group. Pair a short stop with Kintoki Park if time allows.

Elementary-school children

Combine the station with Fuji Speedway, Kintoki Park, or Chikai-no-Oka for a fuller day. At the station itself, meals and shopping are the main activities.

Diaper change

On busy days, find it before going to eat.

Outdoor play

For longer play, go to Kintoki Park.

Meals

Buying bread first can make a wait easier.

Rest

Ideas for a restful stop

  1. 1
    Check parking and toilets first

The free parking area has 63 spaces for small cars and 42 for large vehicles and is open 24 hours. On busy days or at night, consider noise and movement near the truck area when choosing a place to rest.

  2. 2
Decide between a seated meal and a lighter bread stop

The Mount Fuji-view restaurant gives you time to rest over a meal. For a shorter stop, buy bread or other food from Kintaro Bakery or the shop for the car.

  3. 3
Remember the water and seasonal goods

Kintaro's Water is free to use, and mizukakena pickles are a winter highlight. Leave heavier purchases until the end.

  4. 4
Add just one viewpoint or park

Rather than squeeze in Fuji Reien, Hōmon Park, Chikai-no-Oka, and Kintoki Park, choose one to suit the weather and your energy.

Event

Make an event part of your visit

Permanent spaces and dated events are listed separately. Events can change both the atmosphere and crowds; use the official links for details.

Checking event dates.

Spaces used for events

Event plaza

Hosts harvest festivals, bakery activities, and local performances. A summer harvest festival and Kumanoko live performance were announced for July 18, 2026.

Produce market and special displays

A place to find seasonal produce, limited seasonal goods, and items in restricted quantities. On event days, shopping early can help avoid sellouts.

Kintaro Bakery

Relocated here in March 2026. Fresh bread and collaboration items sometimes take center stage on event days.

24-hour rest room

A place to rest, nurse or change a diaper, and check traffic information even on event days. Locate it early when crowds are expected.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

The Mount Fuji view shapes the meal

Visitor reviews often remember the view from the restaurant or station entrance, although clouds can change it. If Mount Fuji is the reason for your stop, enjoy the view while it is visible rather than leaving it until after a long meal.

Kintaro motifs make easy stories and souvenirs

The Kintaro statue, Baum cake, bakery, and water connect the station's attractions through the folk hero Kintaro, who is associated with Oyama. Even a short stop offers something to show children and take home.

The water gives this station an everyday local feel

Kintaro's Water is a permanent facility available free of charge. Local people use it as well as visitors; together with produce and boxed meals, it makes shopping feel connected to daily life here.

Choose a nighttime rest spot with care

The 24-hour rest room and parking are useful, but this Route 246 stop also serves large vehicles. For a longer pause, consider lighting, traffic, and distance from trucks when parking.

Bakery visits are easier after its relocation

Kintaro Bakery moved into the station in March 2026, into a space where visitors can see the workshop. On event or limited-bread days, a short bakery-focused stop is possible alongside a restaurant visit.

Families can combine the station with a park

The station has Yosawa Park and a rest room, but for a play-focused outing add Kintoki Park's lawn, play equipment, and Kintaro Terrace. A park stop after food and shopping makes an easy route.

Buy a taste of Oyama

Shop for Kintaro-themed goods and Mount Fuji area souvenirs, from sweets and drinks to sake.

Drivers should not drink alcohol. Selection varies by season and delivery.

Take the season home

Mizukakena pickles / morning-picked vegetables / local rice / fresh flowers

In winter, look for pickled mizukakena greens from Atano in Oyama; from spring through fall, enjoy local vegetables and flowers. These purchases give a sense of the local kitchen.

Mizukakena pickles are seasonal, usually around February. Go earlier in the day for a particular item.
