How to enjoy

Choose how to enjoy your visit

Eat, shop, play, take in the view or rest. Choose from the station’s strengths to suit your day.

After parking
Head to the sea first

The area in front of the buildings can be busy on holidays. Watch for pedestrians and vehicles as you head toward the marina.

Toilet stop
Use the 24-hour toilets

Part of the toilet area is scheduled for renovation from July 2026 through January 2027. Check signs on site and official updates; the yellow toilet remains available around the clock during the work.

Food
Decide between seafood and a snack

At lunchtime, check the wait for a table and leave room to switch to bread, pudding, ice cream or takeaway food.

Hot spring and footbath
Footbath for a short stop, spa for longer

Footbath hours are approximately 10:00–16:00. The hot spring opens early on some days and can also be a stop before the drive home.

Sightseeing boats
Check weather and sailings

Wind and sea conditions affect both the operation and experience of the underwater-view sightseeing boats. On clear days, decide early whether to go.

Shopping
Pick up souvenirs before heading home

Dried fish, seafood products, sweets and local sake offer plenty of ways to catch up on Izu gifts you may have missed.

Natsuki's harbor route

Sea first, then toilets and food. Let the weather decide between warming up and taking a boat.

At this station, stepping out to the seaside soon after arrival can set the pace for the visit. Check how busy the parking lot is, where the toilets are and how long the food queue looks; then decide whether to keep it short or add the footbath, hot spring or boat.

1

Expect a walk from the parking spot

On busy days, do not fixate on spaces near the entrance. Watch cars and pedestrians as you walk safely to the buildings.

2

Have two food plans

Try seafood, then switch to bread or sweets if the wait is long. You can keep the day on track without staying hungry.

3

Use the hot spring to mark a pause in the trip

A morning bath or a soak before heading home makes the rest in Ito feel more substantial.

4

Boat in fine weather; town when conditions turn

A sightseeing boat can extend a fair-weather visit. If it is not an option, switch to Tokaikan or shopping.

Highlights

Ito Marine Town is a seaside michi-no-eki (roadside station) on National Route 135, with parking, toilets, food, souvenirs, a footbath, a day-use hot spring and sightseeing boats in one place. Its free 24-hour parking lot holds 296 regular cars, and Ito Station is within walking distance. For a short stop, walk by the marina and pick up a snack or souvenirs. With more time, add Asahi-no-Yu Seaside Spa or an underwater-view sightseeing boat for half a day in Ito. Lunchtime on holidays and the summer break can be busy, so keep the footbath, takeaway food, a seaside walk or nearby sights in mind if restaurant queues are long.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

A harbor walk is a break in itself

Before heading straight from the parking lot into the buildings, step out toward the marina. The sea, boats and colorful buildings are close by, giving you a chance to shake off driving fatigue before eating or shopping.

02

Choose from seafood to sweets to suit your appetite

Options range from sushi, seafood rice bowls and hamayaki (Japanese-style grilled seafood) to soba, ramen, bread, pudding, ice cream and baumkuchen. Come for a full lunch, or just sweets and souvenirs before the drive home.

03

Stay longer with a footbath, hot spring or boat trip

For a short break, try the free footbath. For a longer morning pause, consider Asahi-no-Yu Seaside Spa. On a clear day with calm seas, consider an underwater-view sightseeing boat. Match the outing to your companions' energy.

04

A useful stop between central Ito and Izu Kogen

Ito Station, Orange Beach, Tokaikan, Mount Komuro and the Jogasaki Coast are easy to connect from here. Whether arriving from Atami or continuing south to Izu Kogen, you can regroup over a toilet stop and a meal.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

When you need a break while traveling along National Route 135

A 30-minute seaside reset

After the toilet stop, head to the seaside promenade before entering the buildings. A short walk by the marina, followed by something sweet or a drink, can refresh you more than a routine stop.

Park → toilets → marina walk → snack and souvenirs

When the parking lot is crowded, pedestrians and vehicles move through the same area; hold young children's hands.

When you want Ito seafood or local snacks

Make lunch the main event

Choices include seafood bowls, sushi, grilled seafood, soba, ramen and Western-style meals. If the wait for a table is long, switch to bread, pudding, baumkuchen, ice cream or steamed meat buns, then browse souvenirs after eating.

Check restaurants → meal or snack → local products → seaside break

Restaurants differ in opening time, last order and breaks between service periods. Allow alternatives at lunchtime.

Before a morning departure, before heading home or on a rainy day

Build your day around the hot spring

Asahi-no-Yu Seaside Spa offers a chance to warm up while looking at the sea. Choose the footbath for a short visit, or combine the hot spring with the view restaurant when you have more time to recover around a drive.

Park → spa or footbath → meal → souvenirs

Spa facilities have irregular closures and last admission times. If bathing is your main reason for coming, check the official same-day notice.

For a family or couple on a clear day with good sea conditions

Make a half day of the boat and sea

An underwater-view sightseeing boat can turn a roadside stop into a bigger outing. Add a meal, footbath and shopping before or after the boat for an easy half day before visiting central Ito.

Check sailings → boat → meal → footbath and souvenirs

Wind, waves and rain can change sailings and comfort. Keep the plan light for anyone prone to seasickness or traveling with small children.

When you want to add central Ito, a beach or a viewpoint

Connect to nearby sights

After eating and using the toilets here, take a short trip to Ito Orange Beach or Tokaikan for a town visit, or head to Mount Komuro or the Jogasaki Coast for scenery. Using the station as a base makes meals and breaks easier to plan.

Roadside station → one nearby stop on foot or by car → souvenirs before heading home

During the summer beach season and long holidays, surrounding roads also get busy. Picking one extra destination can make the day easier.

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Age 1 and under
★★★☆☆

Locate the nursing room and toilets first, and keep footbath or hot spring plans flexible. The seafront can be windy, so a short stop may work best.

Ages 2–3
★★★☆☆

A marina walk and sweets can provide a change of scene. Take care crossing the busy parking lot and around the footbath, where slipping is possible.

Ages 4–6
★★★★☆

Adding one of the footbath, a seaside walk, a summer road-train event or a boat ride can make the visit memorable. In rain, switch to dining and shopping.

Elementary school age
★★★★★

Children of this age can enjoy the underwater-view boat, Tokaikan, Mount Komuro and the Jogasaki Coast for scenery and learning. Food options also help fill a wait for a table.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

See the sea before eating to get the most from this stop

Ito Marine Town offers more than a large number of shops and restaurants: the harbor view is close as soon as you get out of the car. If you are drowsy or tired, a marina-side walk first can make the break more refreshing.

At holiday lunch, keep alternatives to a seafood meal

This popular station tends to get crowded at restaurants, in the parking area and in souvenir shops on weekends and long holidays. Aim for seafood if you like, but keep bread, pudding, ice cream, takeaway food or the footbath as alternatives.

With children, take care between the parking lot and footbath

People and vehicles move between the buildings, parking area and seaside promenade. With small children, break toilets, food, footbath and a seaside walk into short stops; when it is crowded, doing one less activity may be more enjoyable.

A hot spring visit turns a break into time in Ito

Asahi-no-Yu Seaside Spa opens early on some days and can be paired with the view restaurant. If you plan to bathe, leave room for a relaxed meal and souvenirs, and use the stop to recover before the drive home.

The boat is an option in fine weather; change plans in rough conditions

An underwater-view sightseeing boat can be memorable for children and adults. Sea conditions affect sailings and comfort, so check the official operating status if the boat is your main goal. If it cannot sail, consider the footbath or indoor activities nearby.

Summer events and beachgoers change the flow of people

In summer 2026, 25th anniversary activities overlapped with swimming at Orange Beach and summer events in central Ito. During summer breaks, allow for crowds on National Route 135 and toward central Ito, and keep detours manageable.

With a dog, choose a seaside walk and outdoor seat to suit the weather

A dog footbath and some terrace seating are available, but hot days and strong winds can make the seafront uncomfortable. A shorter visit earlier in the day, with attention to shade and water, may work better.

Before your visit

Things to check before setting out

Opening and closure days, individual businesses and facilities for children or dogs can affect your plans.

  • Even with space for 296 cars, queues to enter and foot traffic rise during summer breaks and long holidays. Do not insist on parking by the entrance; expect to walk.
  • On holiday lunchtimes, cars and pedestrians move through the parking lot more often. With children, take your time getting to the buildings.
  • Restaurant hours and last orders vary by shop. If the meal is your main goal, check the official hours page before arriving.
  • The footbath suits a short stop. Allow more time for the hot spring, including a margin before driving home.
  • Sightseeing boat operations depend on weather and sea conditions. Have a backup such as the footbath, sweets or Tokaikan.
  • In summer, station events, beachgoers and central Ito activities overlap. Pick just one nearby sight and allow for traffic on National Route 135.
  • During the toilet renovation from July 2026 through January 2027, check the signs and allow time to use the yellow 24-hour toilet.
  • An insulated bag makes it easier to choose chilled seafood products or dried fish.

An alternative when it is busy, children cannot wait or you want time for the next sightseeing stop.
