Choose a shop based on your arrival time.

Each shop here has different hours. In the 9 o'clock hour, consider breakfast; before noon, lunch; and in the evening, the farm shop and whatever the bakery still has. Decide before leaving the car and the large parking area feels easier to navigate. If you want both shopping and a meal, take a first look around the farm shop and collect heavier purchases on your way out.

Highlights

Roadside Station Palette Pia Ono is in Ono Town, Ibi District, along Gifu Prefectural Route 53 (the Gifu–Sekigahara Line), immediately east of the Ono-Godo Interchange on the Tokai-Kanjo Expressway. Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

Easy to plan a parking and rest stop

There are 249 standard-car spaces and 10 large-vehicle spaces, plus five spaces for people with disabilities and two maternity spaces. The restrooms have 10 men's fixtures, eight women's fixtures, and one multipurpose fixture. Ono Town says the restrooms and information center are available 24 hours, so you can plan a break even outside shop hours.

02

Shop hours differ, so choose your priority before arriving

The farm shop is open 9:00–18:00, but the bakery closes when sold out, the café closes at 17:00, and the restaurant and udon/soba service have separate breakfast and lunch periods. Depending on your arrival time, decide whether shopping, a light bite, or a full meal matters most.

03

Roses in spring and persimmons in autumn

Gifu Prefecture's official tourism site highlights potted roses grown by local rose farmers (April–May), persimmons (October–December), and seasonal local vegetables. Pairing the shops with Ono Town Rose Park links what you see for sale with the town's landscape.

04

A place for families and an emergency support site

The adjoining Pastel child-rearing center has large play equipment made with Gifu timber, an egg-shaped ball pool, a book and picture-book room, and an infant room. The station also has a disaster supply warehouse. In a major disaster, it is designated as a prefectural wide-area disaster response base and an emergency evacuation site for town residents.

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

When entering western Gifu on the Tokai-Kanjo Expressway

Make it your first supply stop after Ono-Godo Interchange

Gifu Prefecture's official tourism site places the station immediately east of the Ono-Godo Interchange on the Tokai-Kanjo Expressway. As a first stop after leaving the expressway, it lets you take a restroom break and get drinks, a meal, and souvenirs in one place. The official access guide directs drivers from Gifu to turn right at the Shimoiso intersection for the north entrance; drivers from Sekigahara use the south entrance.

Ono-Godo Interchange → Roadside Station Palette Pia Ono → Ibi River and Sekigahara area

Shop hours differ. If you are counting on a meal, check the official information immediately before visiting.

For the spring or autumn rose season

Pair the station with Ono Town Rose Park for a half-day trip

Ono Town Rose Park is about a 10-minute drive from Ono-Godo Interchange. It is listed as freely accessible, with no admission charge or closed days. Have a meal and shop at the station before going, and you can connect the potted roses for sale with the roses in the park. Besides the spring display, the autumn viewing period is generally early October to early November.

Roadside Station Palette Pia Ono → Ono Town Rose Park → home or the Ibi area

Rose bloom dates vary by year. Combine the park with shopping at the station so the trip has something to enjoy even if the flowers are not at their peak.

For rainy days or a pause during a long drive

Take an indoor break with children

Pastel is open 10:00–16:00 and has large play equipment including a slide, an egg-shaped ball pool, a book and picture-book room, and an infant room. On days when outdoor play is difficult, children can move around indoors before a meal or shopping. Two maternity parking spaces also make getting in and out of the car easier.

Park in a maternity space → Pastel child-rearing center → farm shop and bakery

Pastel is closed on Wednesdays, the day after public holidays, and over the New Year period. Its hours also differ from those of the main station facilities.

For early-morning or nighttime travel

Use it for a break outside shop hours

Ono Town says the restrooms and information center are available 24 hours. A 100-inch monitor in the information center shows sightseeing information for Ono Town and western Mino, while a 55-inch monitor shows nearby road conditions. You can check the route ahead even when the shops are closed.

Park → restrooms → check road conditions at the information center → depart

The shops are closed during these hours. Visit during opening hours if you need a meal or shopping.
