Choose the day and arrival time first to make the most of this stop.

With several facilities here, an unplanned visit can mean missing some of them. The restaurant, hot spring and repository all close on Thursdays; the restaurant takes last orders at 15:00; and the shop and information hall close at 17:00. Keep these three points in mind and you can plan either a meal stop or a visit that includes a bath.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

Food, shopping and bathing on the same grounds

Restaurant Hoshi no Furusato, the local products shop, Ibigawa Onsen Fujihashi no Yu and the Tokuyama Folk Materials Repository are all in one place. A planned rest stop can become a meal and bath if time allows, making this a convenient turnaround point for a drive.

02

Dam curry and shiitake lead the menu

The restaurant's signature is Yokotoku Dam Curry. It also serves a shiitake croquette set meal and a shiitake ankake rice bowl, topped with a thickened sauce. Local Fujihashi shiitake mushrooms appear both in the food and at the shop. With last orders at 15:00, plan your arrival time first if eating is your main reason to stop.

03

A rest stop after the facilities close

There is parking for 120 standard cars and 9 large vehicles, and Gifu Prefecture says the toilets are available 24 hours a day. You can stop at any hour before or after the mountain section of National Route 303 or a drive toward National Route 417.

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

Turning around on a half-day drive

Combine a meal and a bath

Eat Yokotoku Dam Curry at the restaurant, pick up shiitake or Tokuyama Nanba peppers at the shop, then bathe at Fujihashi no Yu. Food, shopping and bathing all fit into one stop, which is especially efficient on a day with a lot of driving.

Park → restaurant → local products shop → Ibigawa Onsen Fujihashi no Yu.

The restaurant and hot spring normally close on Thursdays, or the following day if Thursday is a public holiday. Plan a different type of stop if your visit falls on their closing day.

A 30-minute break en route

Buy souvenirs and carry on

The shop is open 9:30–17:00 on weekdays and 9:00–17:00 on weekends and public holidays. Decide in advance whether to pick up Fujihashi shiitake, sesame miso crackers or Mino Ibi tea to make a short visit easy.

Park → toilets → local products shop → depart.

The shop closes for the New Year holidays. An arrival close to its 17:00 closing time leaves little time to browse.

Rainy or hot days

Explore the former Tokuyama Village

At the Tokuyama Folk Materials Repository, you can see everyday tools and photo panels from the former Tokuyama Village. Admission is ¥110 for adults and ¥50 for elementary and junior high school students, making it an accessible indoor stop when being outside is difficult.

Family

Visiting with children

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Ages 1 and under
★★★☆☆

Toilets and a baby bed make a short break easier.

The national Michi-no-Eki association lists a baby bed. A brief indoor stop may be easier than a long stay.

Ages 2–3
★★★☆☆

Break the visit into short steps: eat, look around, then return to the car.

With the restaurant's last order at 15:00, arriving early can help you avoid a clash with nap time.

Ages 4–6
★★★☆☆

The constellation ceiling in the information exchange hall offers a short activity.

Most walking here is within the station grounds. Allow extra travel time for the surrounding mountain roads.

Elementary school age
★★★★☆

Add the Tokuyama Folk Materials Repository and hot spring for a longer visit.

See everyday tools from the former Tokuyama Village, then bathe at Fujihashi no Yu. Both facilities normally close on Thursdays.

Toilets

Gifu Prefecture says the toilets are available 24 hours a day. An accessible toilet is also listed.

Facilities for small children

The national Michi-no-Eki association lists one in its facility information. Check onsite notices for conditions of use.
