How to enjoy

Choose how to enjoy your visit

Eat, shop, play, take in the view or rest. Choose from the station’s strengths to suit your day.

Start with
Watercress products

Fresh watercress, watercress cake, juice, soba noodles, and miso offer a quick taste of Doshi Village.

For a meal
Handmade Kitchen

Choose from café items such as watercress cake and juice, a wild-vegetable soba and ayu rice set (ayu is a river fish), or venison dishes featuring mountain ingredients.

For a break
Second-floor rest area and riverside

With young children or on a long drive, it helps to alternate a short indoor break with time outside.

To get outside
Lawn and Kappa Bridge

On a fine day, even a few minutes' walk toward the water after eating leaves an impression of the Doshi River.

To finish
Doshi no Yu hot spring

After a mountain drive or camping trip, a visit to this day-use hot spring can turn the stop into a half-day outing if its opening days fit.

Koharu Chitose's stopover notes

A Doshi-michi stop where eating, shopping, and resting can happen at an easy pace.

Koharu Chitose sees this as a place to choose watercress products and catch your breath beside the Doshi River. It can be busy on weekends, but the parking, restrooms, second-floor rest area, lawn, and Kappa Bridge give you ways to change plans instead of focusing only on a meal. With children, decide whether to go down to the water based on conditions; adults can continue to Doshi no Yu. Even one watercress product to take home can recall a visit to Doshi Village.

Highlights

Michi-no-Eki Doshi sits near the middle of National Route 413, known as Doshi-michi, and brings together food, shopping, restrooms, and a riverside break. Watercress, a Doshi Village specialty, takes center stage. Explore watercress dishes at the Handmade Kitchen and processed goods in the shop, then step outside to the lawn, Kappa Bridge, or the Doshi River. Weekends draw riders and people returning from camping; combine a meal with shopping, sweets, a riverside pause, or a side trip to the hot spring instead of counting on lunch alone.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

Watercress makes the stop memorable

Watercress, a Doshi Village specialty, appears not only fresh but also in cake, juice, soba, pasta, seasoned miso, and yokan (a sweet bean jelly). Look for it in both the shop and dining area; even without a meal, you can enjoy choosing something to take home.

02

A change of pace beside the Doshi River

The facilities include a lawn, Kappa Bridge suspension bridge, a river play area, and a second-floor rest area, so you can move between indoors and fresh air. When it is busy, splitting your stop into eating, shopping, and a short walk can make it easier to enjoy.

03

Useful from both the Yamanakako and Sagamihara sides

On National Route 413, this stop serves people heading toward Lake Yamanaka, toward Sagamihara in Kanagawa, or to campgrounds in Doshi Village. Weekends can be busy, but you can take care of restrooms, food, shopping, and tourist information in one stop.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

A first drive on Doshi-michi

Eat watercress and take a short riverside break

Browse watercress products in the shop, choose noodles or sweets at the Handmade Kitchen, then walk to the lawn or Kappa Bridge after eating. It is an easy way to get a feel for Doshi Village in a short stop.

Park → shop → Handmade Kitchen → lawn and Kappa Bridge → depart.

Parking and dining can get busy at lunchtime on holidays. Keeping options beyond a meal makes the stop easier to manage.

Returning from a Doshi Village campground

Shop and use the restrooms after camping

From morning into midday, combine a restroom stop with drinks, local vegetables, and watercress products to take home. Sweets and processed foods that are easy to eat in the car offer a break before the next stretch of traffic.

Campground → Michi-no-Eki Doshi → toward Sagamihara or Lake Yamanaka.

During summer holidays and long weekends, many campers head home at similar times. Choose your parking spot and help children in and out of the car with care.

A leisurely half-day

Continue to Doshi no Yu after eating

Have lunch and shop at the station, then head to Doshi no Yu if it is open. Adding a bath and rest beside the sound of the river turns a drive through Doshi-michi into a half-day outing.

Michi-no-Eki Doshi → Doshi no Yu → journey home.

Doshi no Yu's opening days and regular closures can change. Check its official schedule before a trip centered on the hot spring.

A family day with less outdoor walking

On a rainy day, focus on the station and an activity center

If rain or a swollen river is a concern, focus on the shop, food, and second-floor rest area. If reservations and conditions allow, switch to indoor or food activities at Minamoto Experience Center. This route makes it easier to skip the riverbank.

Michi-no-Eki Doshi → Minamoto Experience Center → home or hot spring.

Most programs at the center require reservations year-round. Check options by the previous day instead of relying on a same-day visit.

Visiting with children

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Under 1 year
★★★☆☆

Good for restrooms and a short break; expect to carry your child if you go down to the riverbank.

The baby changing bed in the women's restroom and the second-floor rest area are useful. When it is busy, choose a place to rest first instead of spending a long time browsing the shop.

Ages 2–3
★★★☆☆

The lawn and Kappa Bridge offer a change of scene, but children need close watching by the water.

Keep eating, shopping, and walking in short segments. Check the water temperature and current before river play; simply viewing it from the bridge can be enough.

Ages 4–6
★★★★☆

Combine watercress sweets, the lawn, Kappa Bridge, and river views to keep the visit varied.

In summer, children may be drawn to the water. Spare clothes and towels in the car can make the visit easier.

Elementary school age
★★★★☆

The Doshi River, local products, hot spring, and activity center offer more to explore.

After eating, add Otaki and Metaki Falls or Minamoto Experience Center to turn a rest stop into a chance to learn about the area.

Baby changing bed

The official general information lists one bed in the women's restroom. Allow for a possible wait when it is busy.

River play

The clear river is inviting, but after rain or when the water rises, enjoy the view from the bridge or lawn instead.

Rest area

Finding the second-floor rest area first can make a meal wait or a break around feeding time easier.

Parking

The site lists 100 standard car spaces, but touring riders, campers, and lunchtime visitors can mean frequent arrivals and departures.

Rest

Ideas for a restful stop

  1. 1
Check restrooms and parking position first

The site lists 100 standard car spaces, but some parking areas close after 17:00. Choose a space that makes it easy to leave in your onward direction.

  2. 2
Eat early or switch to a light snack

The kitchen's last order is around 17:30. On holidays, eat before the lunchtime rush if possible; if it is crowded, choose sweets or the shop instead.

  3. 3
Keep the outdoor walk to the bridge and lawn

The breeze at Kappa Bridge or on the lawn may be enough without going down to the water. Use the indoor rest area if the footing is poor.

Event

Make an event part of your visit

Permanent spaces and dated events are listed separately. Events can change both the atmosphere and crowds; use the official links for details.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

Allow extra time for parking and food on weekends when riders and returning campers overlap

Doshi-michi is also known as a motorcycle route, and visitor reviews and videos often show busy holidays. Even if you plan to head straight for the dining area, being ready to switch to processed goods or sweets from the shop, or a riverside break, can keep your plans flexible.

Look for watercress in both the dining area and shop

The Handmade Kitchen has café items such as watercress cake and juice; the shop carries watercress soba, pasta, seasoned miso, and yokan sweet bean jelly. You can take home a taste of the station even without eating there.

Enjoy the river, but weigh rest and safety separately

There is a river play area beside the Doshi River, and summer visitors often remember the water. With young children, check the water temperature, current, and rises after rain; viewing it from the bridge or lawn may be the better choice.

Plan an alternative to EV rapid charging

Official notices say the rapid charger is broken and unavailable. If driving an EV on Doshi-michi, choose another charging stop before setting out instead of searching after arrival.

Check confirmed dates for seasonal events

Official notices said fixed dates were difficult to set as before and mentioned plans for summer corn, an autumn harvest festival, and a November game-meat fair. Before visiting, look for confirmed details in official news rather than assuming an event is on this week.

On rainy days, consider Doshi no Yu or the activity center

If open, Doshi no Yu offers a bath and rest; Minamoto Experience Center offers reservable food and craft activities. Switching from the station's riverbank to an indoor activity or bath can help families on wet days.

What would you like to eat?

A meal, a sweet treat, market shopping or something to take away: choose a focus for the day instead of trying everything at once.

The station's specialty

Watercress juice and watercress cake

A first choice for a taste of Doshi Village. Consider these if you enter the dining area.

A substantial lunch

Wild-vegetable soba and ayu rice set, meat soba, curry, venison Bolognese, venison stew

For a meal during a mountain drive. On busy days, arrive well before the last-order time.

A quick sweet break

Soft-serve ice cream, coffee, watercress cake

For days when you cannot spend long in the dining area or want a short change of pace for a child.

To take home

Watercress, watercress soba, watercress pasta, seasoned miso, pickles, jam

Take a taste of Doshi Village home or to your lodging. Fresh produce depends on the season and deliveries.

If lunch is crowded

Processed goods, sweets, and drinks from the shop; a riverside break

If the wait for lunch is long, switch to shopping and an outdoor break instead of depending on the meal.
