A rest stop for stocking up on Asahi's foods.

At Kirari Asahi, think about both what to eat and how to make the next leg easier. Settle in with parking and toilets, browse Asahi vegetables, fish and flowers at the market, then choose udon or bread around lunchtime. If children are tired of the car, use the lawn and, if needed, Fukuro Park. You can get a sense of Asahi City without packing the schedule.

Eat, shop, play a little: Kirari Asahi makes it easy to choose your own order.

Highlights

Roadside Station Kirari Asahi brings together farm, seafood and livestock products from Asahi City. Browse vegetables, flowers, fresh fish, meat, rice and eggs at Shun no Toretate Ichiba, then pause for Wakabayashi Udon, bread, gelato or Asapi-yaki, a local character-shaped snack. With 24-hour parking and outdoor toilets and an approximately 2,500-square-meter lawn, this is a useful place to reset plans with children or on a long drive.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

See Asahi's foods in one place

The direct-sales area spans produce, fresh fish, meat, cut flowers, rice and eggs. Even on a short stop, you can choose something to take home for today's table.

02

More than one meal option

Wakabayashi Udon joined in April 2026, alongside bread, gelato, Asapi-yaki and prepared foods. If lunchtime is busy, you can switch to a snack or takeaway.

03

Practical facilities for a break

Parking for 148 regular cars and 10 large vehicles and outdoor toilets are available 24 hours. There is a nursing room in the first-floor rest area, plus play equipment and benches on the lawn.

04

Extend the stop to outdoor play or town sights

If the station lawn is not enough, head to Fukuro Park; in summer, consider Yasashigaura Beach; on rainy or very hot days, try Ohisama Terrace. The location makes it easy to choose another stop in Asahi City.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

Shopping before heading home

Stop mainly for the market

Look beyond produce to fresh fish, meat, cut flowers, rice and eggs, and you will see why Asahi is called a food-producing region. A cooler bag gives you more choices.

Park → Shun no Toretate Ichiba market → prepared food or a sweet → depart.

Fresh items depend on deliveries and may sell out. Later in the day, it helps to focus on a few things.

On a drive toward Choshi or Kujukuri

Combine lunch and a break

Plan around Wakabayashi Udon, with bread, gelato, Asapi-yaki and prepared foods as alternatives. Even if family members want different foods, each can find something.

Park → check food options → rest area or lawn → market.

Wakabayashi Udon is listed as open 10:30–15:00, with last orders at 14:30 and Thursdays closed.

A break on a long journey

Give children a change of pace

Use the outdoor toilets or nursing room, then let children move around on the lawn. If that is not enough, drive to Fukuro Park for play equipment and seasonal water play.

Toilets → lawn → snack → Fukuro Park or the next destination.

Use of the lawn depends on the weather. For summer water play, check Fukuro Park's operating and cleaning days.

A half-day drive

Continue into seasonal Asahi

Options include cherry blossoms at Fukuro Park in spring, Yasashigaura Beach in summer, and the kagura dance at Kamakazu Ise Daijingu in late March. Kagura is a traditional ritual performance at the shrine. Using the roadside station for food and toilets makes the surrounding trip easier.

Station → Fukuro Park, beach or shrine → Ohisama Terrace if needed.

Beach opening periods, shrine festivals and events can change each year. Check the latest official notices before visiting.

Families with young children or three generations

Switch indoors on rainy or very hot days

Keep the station stop short for shopping and a snack, then head to Ohisama Terrace at AEON Town Asahi if you want to spend time indoors. This combination is easy to adapt during a drive.

Shop at the station → snack → Ohisama Terrace.

Ohisama Terrace is closed Mondays; hours differ by facility.

Visiting with children

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Age 1 and under
★★★★☆

Suitable for a short visit using the nursing room and indoor rest area.

The nursing room in the first-floor rest area, outdoor toilets and large parking area help if adults take turns shopping.

Ages 2–3
★★★★☆

A short spell of movement on the lawn can help.

If the station's play equipment is not enough, continue to Fukuro Park. Water-play rules include conditions on diaper use; check them and be prepared to supervise from outside the water.

Ages 4–6
★★★★★

It is easy to combine the lawn, bread, a sweet and Fukuro Park at this age.

Have a light bite at the station before going to the park for a natural change between play and rest.

Elementary-school children
★★★★☆

The market's foods, coast and kagura dance offer things to talk about.

Try Fukuro Park in spring, Yasashigaura in summer, or Kamakazu Ise Daijingu for an interest in history, to make the stop more than a break.

Event

Make an event part of your visit

Permanent spaces and dated events are listed separately. Events can change both the atmosphere and crowds; use the official links for details.

Spaces used for events

24-hour parking and outdoor toilets

There are 148 regular-car and 10 large-vehicle spaces. These facilities make a rest stop possible outside shop hours on drives toward Choshi or Kujukuri.

Lawn and event square

The approximately 2,500-square-meter lawn has play equipment, benches and a gazebo. The event square hosts events, which can make an event day a reason to stay.

Recent notices

In 2026, notices have covered Wakabayashi Udon's opening, temporary closures, changes to opening hours and a town stamp rally. Check official notices before your visit.

Seasonal events in Asahi City

The Fukuro Park Cherry Blossom Festival, Yasashigaura Beach and Kamakazu Kagura give different reasons to explore beyond the station. Use the station as a base for food and a break.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

A broad market makes shopping a good reason to stop

The official facility and shopping information lists produce, fresh fish, meat, cut flowers, rice and eggs. You can combine Asahi ingredients for dinner, rather than taking home just one item.

An easy short break with children at the station

With 24-hour outdoor toilets, a nursing room, lawn and multi-part play equipment, children can take a short break from the car as well as shop.

Add Fukuro Park for a half-day outing

Fukuro Park has play equipment, a lawn, a fountain pond, a shallow splash pool and parking for about 160 cars. Spring cherry blossoms and summer water play extend a station stop into an outing.

Summer plans depend on beach opening dates

For 2026, Yasashigaura Beach was listed as open July 18–August 23, 9:00–16:00. It has free parking and showers, making it an option after eating and shopping at the station.

Look beyond the station for events

In January 2026, a town stamp rally called “Oretachi no Asahi,” visiting film locations, was announced. The station was one of the Asahi City stops, linking shopping with a trip around town.

  • The 24-hour outdoor toilets and parking make a useful rest point on a long drive.

Food mood

What would you like to eat?

A meal, a sweet treat, market shopping or something to take away: choose a focus for the day instead of trying everything at once.

Buy to take home

Produce, fresh fish, meat, rice, eggs and flowers

This is the main stop for seeing Asahi's farm, seafood and livestock products together. Bring a cooler if you want more choices.

Sit down for a meal

Wakabayashi Udon

For handmade udon at lunch, plan around its 10:30–15:00 hours.

Grab something light

Guchokipan bread, Asapi-yaki and prepared foods

On busy dining days or when you need to move on, these are easier to take to the car or rest area.

Pause for something sweet

Home Of Mothers gelato and smoothies

An easy treat after a summer beach trip or when children need a break.

Find something seasonal

Flowers, seasonal vegetables and event products

A cherry-blossom outing, beach visit or food stamp rally can give you a different reason to browse the market. A stamp rally is an event in which visitors collect stamps at participating stops.

An option when it is crowded

Prepared foods, bread and sweets from the market

You can shorten the stop to a purchase or a bite instead of waiting for one lunch shop.
