Naomi's detour notes

At this station, decide what to buy as well as what to eat.

For Naomi Shiraishi, Miyoshi Village deserves more than a BINGO burger alone. If you have a burger, also look for vegetables or fruit for dinner at Tsuchi no Megumikan. If you have soft serve, take home a milk sweet. If you use the footbath, notice the season in the rice fields. Together they offer a taste of inland Minamiboso distinct from the coast.

Highlights

Michi-no-Eki Miyoshimura Hinanosato is a tempting detour into the fields of Minamiboso before you head for the coast. If you pick just one attraction, choose a BINGO burger with a 100% wagyu beef patty, freshly harvested vegetables at Tsuchi no Megumikan, or dairy products made with Mineoka Milk. With more time, look out over the rice fields from the footbath. In autumn, add mandarin picking or a trip into the nearby wooded hills. Eating, shopping, and taking in the countryside can turn a rest stop into a short outing.

Why I like it

Reasons to stop here

01

A station for the fields of Minamiboso

Minamiboso may bring the sea to mind, but inland Miyoshi Village is about rice paddies, fields, dairy farming, and harvest activities. On the way toward the Tomiura interchange or Tateyama, you can sample a side of Boso's food culture beyond seafood.

02

Food is the main attraction

BINGO's handmade burgers, the vegetables and fruit at Tsuchi no Megumikan, and dairy products made with Mineoka Milk each give you a reason to stop for lunch, dessert, or shopping. If BINGO is crowded, you can switch to the farm shop and soft serve.

03

Stay longer for the footbath and harvest activities

The footbath behind the building offers a short rest with views of the fields. From around mid-October to mid-December, mandarin picking and other farm activities can turn a shopping stop into a fuller Miyoshi outing.

Route idea

Ways to plan your stop

Spend your time at the station or add somewhere nearby. These ideas help you plan around your companions and the weather.

Adults driving through Minamiboso; days when you want a substantial meal

Plan lunch around BINGO

Check BINGO's opening status and queue first. If you can wait, make the burger your main stop. If the wait is uncertain, shop at Tsuchi no Megumikan first to make good use of your time after parking.

Parking → BINGO → footbath or farm shop → toward Tomiura or Tateyama.

BINGO may close on Thursdays or unexpectedly, and burgers may sell out. If it is your main reason for visiting, check official and shop social media before setting off.

A 30-minute break on the way home; buying food for your accommodation

Make a short shopping stop

Browse the vegetables, fruit, flowers, and processed foods at Tsuchi no Megumikan, then add a dairy product or sweet. Even after eating on the coast, you can take home a taste of inland Minamiboso.

Toilets → Tsuchi no Megumikan → dairy products and sweets → depart.

The selection of farm produce is often better in the morning. If you shop on your return trip, keep purchases cool and watch the temperature inside the car.

A break on a long drive; children or passengers ready for a change

Change the pace of a drive with the footbath

Even if you do not want a big meal, the footbath and field views can make the stop feel restorative. Keep it brief, perhaps looking at the foot reflexology area and flower beds, before carrying on to your next destination.

Parking → footbath → soft serve → depart.

Water temperature and availability vary by day. Bring a towel and treat the footbath as an option if it is open.

Families looking for a seasonal activity; a distinctive Minamiboso detour

Add mandarin picking in autumn and winter

Satsuma mandarin picking is an option from around mid-October to mid-December. The activity takes about 30 minutes; ask at the roadside station about registration and farm conditions before adding it to a half-day outing.

Check registration at the roadside station → nearby farm → shop at Tsuchi no Megumikan.

Weather, growth, and bookings affect availability. Call ahead if picking is the purpose of your visit.

Adults who want to walk after eating; days when you want to leave the crowds

Head toward Masuma for nature

After eating and shopping, head toward Masuma's waterfalls or Mount Dainichi as the landscape changes from fields to forest. Some roads are narrow, so choose a day when you have time and shoes suitable for a light walk.

Roadside station → Masuma and Botaki Falls area → return journey.

After rain or toward evening, watch your footing and the road width. With children, stay within an area you can easily leave after a short visit.

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Age 1 and under
★★★☆☆

Best for a short break and shopping.

An accessible toilet and baby changing bed are listed, though this is not a place for extended play. Check where the facilities are on arrival for feeding or diaper changes.

Ages 2–3
★★★☆☆

Good for a footbath, soft serve, and a short shopping stop.

Long waits at BINGO can be difficult at this age. Try the footbath or a break outside first, and eat there only if the wait is manageable.

Ages 4–6
★★★★☆

Mandarin picking or the footbath can make the visit memorable.

Autumn and winter picking offers the fun of harvesting fruit yourself. Match footwear, handwashing, and clothing to conditions at the farm.

Elementary school age
★★★★☆

Food, shopping, dairy farming, and wooded hills all offer things to talk about.

Combine the size of a BINGO burger, the story of the milk, mandarin picking, and nature near Masuma for a stop with more to discover than a simple break.

Tsuchi no Megumikan

Seasonal vegetables, fruit, flowers, and processed foods are the main attraction. Shopping earlier in the day often gives you more to choose from.

Footbath and field side

Farm activity registration

Ask here about farm conditions for mandarin picking, edible nanohana flower picking, and other activities. Check availability on the day rather than assuming fixed dates.

Local feel

Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

Treat BINGO as lunch

Reviews and trip accounts often mention visits for BINGO, including people who gave up because of the queue. On weekends, allow enough time or plan to switch to the farm shop and soft serve if it is crowded.

Bring a towel for a short footbath break

The footbath is a distinctive place to pause, but visitors' impressions of its temperature and condition vary by season. Leave it as an option rather than the sole purpose of your stop.

Plan to take combustible rubbish with you

Because this is a place for takeout and purchases, a small rubbish bag in the car can be useful. Follow the waste bin arrangements on site.

Check the current milk name

Long-familiar Miyoshi Milk ended production at the end of June 2025, and Mineoka Milk has been supplied since July 2025. Older mentions of “Miyoshi Milk” may no longer describe what is sold.

Visit the farm shop earlier for more choice

Tsuchi no Megumikan's range of vegetables, fruit, flowers, and processed foods is part of its appeal. It is useful on the way home too, but visit earlier, around mealtime, if browsing is a priority.

Mandarins in autumn and winter, edible nanohana in early spring

Official and tourism information lists Satsuma mandarin picking and picking edible nanohana flower buds. These activities do not run on a fixed daily schedule; ask about registration at the roadside station before adding one to your plans.

Before your visit

Things to check before setting out

Opening and closure days, individual businesses and facilities for children or dogs can affect your plans.

  • Hinanosato's basic hours are approximately 9:00–17:00. Tsuchi no Megumikan, BINGO, and activity registration run separately, so check official and shop notices if you have a specific purpose.
  • If BINGO is your lunch stop, allow for a wait from opening through the lunchtime peak. With young children, keep the farm shop or soft serve as an alternative.
  • Bring a towel if you might use the footbath. Its temperature and availability change by day, so treat it as one option for a short break.
  • A cooler bag is useful for vegetables or dairy products from the farm shop. Avoid leaving them in a hot car in summer.
  • Mandarin picking, edible nanohana picking, bamboo shoots, and other activities depend on weather, growth, and bookings. Call ahead if an activity is your main purpose.
  • For nature spots near Masuma, choose comfortable walking shoes and daylight hours. After rain, watch your footing and the narrow roads.

What would you like to eat?

A meal, a sweet treat, market shopping or something to take away: choose a focus for the day instead of trying everything at once.

Main lunch

BINGO burger

If food brings you to this station, start here. The burger is large, so plan it as lunch rather than a snack.

Queues and waits are common; leave extra time on weekend lunchtimes.

Dessert

Mineoka Milk soft serve

Even without a sit-down meal, you can quickly taste the dairy heritage of this area. It is an easy local flavor to share with children.

Farm shop

Freshly harvested vegetables, fruit, and flowers

Naomi Shiraishi would spend more time here. Choose something for your accommodation or home as well as a meal, and the detour becomes more rewarding.

Souvenirs

Milk sweets, Awa beer, and Mura no Sake

There are options for passengers and family members with different tastes. Local beer and junmai sake are possibilities for someone who is not driving.

When it is crowded

Switch to the farm shop and soft serve

If the BINGO wait is long, you need not build the whole visit around a meal. Shopping and dessert still give you a taste of Miyoshi Village.
