Fuka's chestnut time

A 9:00 farm shop and 11:00 dining: knowing the gap makes this stop twice as tasty.

Fuka Miyasaka recommends Kasama because chestnuts have their own specialty shop, and shopping and dining start at different times. The farm shop opens at 9:00, La Kuri at 9:30, and the food court and restaurant at 11:00. Knowing this order helps you find something to take away whether you arrive early or late.

Highlights

Michi-no-Eki Kasama (Kasama Roadside Station) opened on September 16, 2021, in Tego, Kasama City, beside National Route 355. La Kuri, a chestnut cafe and shop, Midori no Kaze, a farm shop focused on Kasama produce, a food court serving local ingredients, and a restaurant are all together here. The toilets and parking are open 24 hours. Guide Fuka Miyasaka suggests more than a stop for a Kasama chestnut Mont Blanc: use the interval between the farm shop's 9:00 opening and the dining venues' 11:00 opening to stock up on Kasama flavors before setting off.

Family

Visiting with children

Stars show the editorial recommendation for each age group on a five-point scale. Read the reasons alongside each rating.

Age 1 and under
★★★★☆

A nursing room, baby care area, and 24-hour multipurpose toilets make short breaks easier. Check the distance from parking to the facilities to keep the time carrying a child short.

Ages 2–3
★★★★☆

Gelato and soft-serve are simple treats to enjoy. Since the dining venues open at 11:00, use the farm shop and outdoor squares to fill the time if you arrive early.

Ages 4–6
★★★★☆

The multipurpose square and lawn let children move around after eating. Plan outdoor time around the weather and sun.

Elementary school age
★★★★☆

The area's chestnut-growing story connects with the seasonal produce in the farm shop. A bicycle-sharing station offers a way to explore more of the city if the children have the energy.
