Reasons to return

Practical ideas and things to consider when spending time here.

A nickname celebrating the river and Kasshi persimmons

Kamaishi City calls the facility “Ayu Dancing in a Clear Stream and the Village of Kasshi Persimmons, Michi-no-Eki Kamaishi Sennintoge.” Ayu are sweetfish. The nickname points to its position beside the Kasshi River and to Kasshi persimmons, a specialty of western Kamaishi traditionally smoke-treated to remove astringency.

Check food counter hours separately from the main station

Kamaishi City lists the station’s overall hours as 9:00–18:00. The Iwate River and National Highway Office lists café and light meals as 9:00–17:00, while the Iwate tourism site lists an earlier last order for food. If you plan to eat, confirm the current serving time and last order before visiting.
