Short breaks and first visits
Extend a Route 239 break into the old station's story
After parking, use the toilets and bus waiting area at Anyu and spend a little time with the railway history exhibit. Then choose soft serve or dairy products at the local products shop; even a 15-minute break can give you a sense of Okoppe.
Parking → Anyu → railway exhibit → local products shop.
The shop's sales area and hours change with the season.
Families with children and long drives
Let children out of the car and reset on the lawn
This is not a place for hours of playground time, but Joy Park's lawn and benches make a family break easier. Buy a drink and something sweet, then stretch before the next leg of the journey.
Toilets → soft serve → Joy Park → departure.
Keep outdoor time short on windy days or in winter.
Summer festival, fireworks, and town events
Enjoy the roadside station as a summer event venue
During the Okoppe Summer Festival, the area around the roadside station becomes a town event venue. It is busier than on an ordinary quiet stop, so plan parking, toilets, and the time needed for the drive back.
Michi-no-Eki Okoppe → Joy Park area → fireworks and food stalls.
Check the organizer's latest information for dates, traffic restrictions, and weather decisions.
Eating and shopping
For dairy products, add Milk Hall
If the roadside station's rotating soft serve leaves you wanting more Okoppe dairy, continue to North Plain Farm's Milk Hall. It is an easy detour for a meal, dessert, and shopping in one place.
Roadside station → Milk Hall → National Route 239 or 238.
Check the Tuesday closure and the last order time for meals.
Summer family trips and a seaside break
In the short summer, continue to Saruru Beach
When it is open from mid-July to late August, Saruru Beach makes a practical summer addition to a roadside station stop. You can swim, cool off by the sea, see the seaside festival, or shop at the station before or after using a cottage.
Roadside station → Saruru Beach → roadside station or a meal in town.
Swimming availability depends on weather, temperature, and sea conditions.
